you might be shocked, but i dont think the jason todd revival is really that bad. i mean, he seems to only be in a semi crappy book that has zero to do with his old character at this point but there was some good stuff done with him for a lil while.

MORRISONCON sounds predictably awesome...but at $700 plus airfare i dont think theres any way i can really justify that. realistically, thats not THAAAAT much considering it includes 3 nights at the hard rock, but still. money is money.

So anybody have the skinny on what I will be getting my grubby little hands on for free on Saturday?
Since you mention it, I really don't have any idea what, specifically, is coming out.
bla bla bla event kickoff books from dc/marvel, average samplers from Darkhorse, boom, idw ...
It's all here:
... I don't exactly understand what "Graphic Elivs" is but it sounds interesting.
Atomic Robo, The Censored Howard Cruse, that My Favorit Matian book, BONGO.
I usually wind up grabbing the kids samplers, but go more for the sales than anything.
'N this year I'm also looking forward to getting a couple things signed by Dustin Ngyun.
Edit: Turns out I probably own some Adam Beechen comics too, so I'll probably get those signed if I can find them in my stacks.
and OH SH*T I just saw All About has been doing a 100 comics for $30 bucks since last week, OH THE PAIN, the pain ...

and whats worse to me (and im sure lots of other fuddy duddies)-why even bother with Earth 2 if its just a different version of the main universe? originally, E2 was the legacy 'earth' with old characters that dont fit. who gives a shit who jay garrick is if he is just another mid 20s dude who runs fast? that wasnt the point. he was the wise old speedster. now hes just another mid 90s looking image character.
edit:most excited for the Valiant Preview, Transformers 80.5 (?!? i just re-read the final 10 issues of the old marvel book. my favorite comics as a kid) that MOUSE GAURD book is gonna be the radness(a free 48 pg hardcover????) Serenity, Bad Medicine could be ok based off the preview, ATOMIC ROBO is always rad and is normally all-new on FCBD
that image book has just previews that are already online i think...including YET ANOTHER DAMN ZOMBIE BOOK DEAR GOD WHY
shit, tomorrow is a huge day for me as well after a lot of slim weeks.
DIAL H
SWEET TOOTH
BULLETPROOF COFFIN
EPIC KILL (eh, maybe. if its just an internet meme pile up upon flip through i will pass)
MIND THE GAP

Like the entire series before it, it's simply incredible. Great art, excellent plots, and just stellar characters and writing. Plus, a heartbreaking ending.
Now I can't wait to put my hands on "52" to find out how Renee Montoya becomes the new Question. (and read some more awesomeness by Greg Rucka)

GCPD is amazing. i would say its better than 52 overall. i was a huge fan of 52 at the time, but a lot of the appeal was the weekly episodic format. if you are mainly interested in the montoya/question story im sure you will be happy though. its very good! they were both one of my favorite characters, so it was definitely cool for me.Meanwhile, the last Gotham Central TPB (vol. 4: Corrigan) was released last week.

One Hundred Demons by Lynda Barry is way good.
Every time I see her work I am amazed in a bunch of ways: that she's been at it so long, the detail in her artwork, the amount of personal truth she's able to put on the page without degenerating into a rut, and how consistantly she gets overlooked in the field.
I mean, it's great that she's had such a consistant career, but was there ever a time when she was the nation's "Kate Beaton"?
I guess it's better to walk into a room like a Grand Dame than a starlet?

not to be pee on your Gotham Central love (I'm there too), but I felt the Montoya to Question handoff was a weaker point of the series, overall 52 is still a really good set of stories and did right by the whole cast.
Unfortunately, it rendered her character basically blank. It was a pre-reboot miss-step I thought I'd love, which seems to have resulted in her death post-reboot...?
Also: July 20th! It's My Birthday!
Apparently there's some viral tagger art going on around town for the movie if you look for it...

The weekly episodic format won't have much to do with it, yeah -- as a matter of fact, I never buy weekly comics, only trades. But since Greg Rucka is on board and 52 generally gets rave reviews (it's near the top of Linkara's recommended readings list, next to Secret Six and Birds of Prey (both of which I've picked up a TPB of, and they're awesome)), it's a safe bet to assume I'll enjoy it. I like the idea of a character-driven comic focusing on B- and C-listers of the DCU while the big three are AWOL.
