For some reason the search function is going hideously slow, so I can't find the old one.

So here I am, sitting at my desk when some fairly well-dressed lady comes in the front door and asks what we do here. I give her the short answer, which is "give money to people", and is mildly humorous most of the time.

She then goes off on a longwinded diatribe about how the recent volcanic eruptions around here were caused "because ash doesn't disintigrate" and how when she got to Anchorage it looked like Iraq or some other demolished city (note, the ash fall missed us). She continued talking about how she was on a mission to find honest people to work for her and how she was kicked out of Homer (a town) when her house was locked and demolished because it was hooked up to the power and cable lines and how her title and mission dated back to the 1800s and were given to her by a former president.

In the end I gave her a copy of the foundation's guidelines and a business card she requested and she left. A few moments later, someone who heard half of it came back up from the parking lot to remark that someone had a car with 'Repent and be saved' written upon it in dirt. Yeah.

I'm torn between feeling sorry for this woman and laughing my ass off at the moment.

edit: Oh yeah, before she left, she said she was trying to find "a church that didn't lie" and wanted to know if I knew of any. I don't attend church, so I said no, which provoked a further lamentation about the state of the world.

All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.

And just because I am left with nothing to do, here is another random work story.

Out in the work room is a pen that has some weird head on one side with rubber hair and a cap shaped like a foot. This being a laid back office, I turned a wire pen basket upside down over it as a cage, and made a little sign saying something like "North American Furry-headed Pen - Saetus Stylus" for the basket's rim. It was there for about a day.

Later on I realized that the Latin designation of "hairy pen" could probably be misconstrued as an inappropriate joke. Thankfully I don't think anyone knew who did it.

Hahah, nice story, Crims!

Today was a windy day...and a powerline near work came down:

So I had to park in Bose's parking lot and then run to my lab in the drizzle. Not a bad deal, but then the rain came down in sheets. I was completely soaked and when my boss saw me she just laughed and cracked some awful joke like "is it wet outside?" I'm going home!

i didn't do much today. i am a merchandiser, an outside vendor for best buy.
so whenever i get done, i just kind of walk around and look at DVDs/CDs.
and that is pretty much what i did most of the day. it can get pretty boring.

I went to see some dude on the fifth floor.
And to my great contempt, the "No fancy walk" sign I placed a year ago was still there.

well, with school and no job, i'll tell about school
we had a car smash for all of the wrestlers as a fund raiser. my friends parents were hosting it so i got all kinds of free hits on it, but on one of my first hits, my hand came down on the sledge and I broke my left pointer.didn't really hurt though so i kept hitting.

I haven't been back to work yet since Magfest.
I work at a temp agency right now, and my last job (last week) was completely bizarre.

I got there at 7 in the morning and had to wait in the lunch room with this really strange man.
He ate Dorritos and ranch dressing for breakfast while making loud snorting sounds when
consuming it. It was by far the grossest thing i've ever witnessed.

I'm not looking forward to starting work again :(

Work: I got a bonus check for being underbudget on this one job i was working on (dart arena transit for those shizzies in Dallas). SO that was good.

I'm now sitting in my adv database class. First class tonight. Man they upgraded the machines to some IBM workstation but they have these sweet ass ViewSonic VA90b monitors....i think i'm falling in love (and not because of the redhead in front of me booyakasha). I might have to look into getting one of these monitors. (1280x1024 ...wonder what Battlefield 2 would look like on this mutha)

DB, should be fun, using PostgreSql. So anyone who has experience with thist list your name here in case i reach a point of exhasperating frustration. :)

Crimson: i woulda laughed
