Too bad it's not more balanced karma. Then all of the Victory Records bands would have dead guitarists!

I posted an item, which I found on AZPUNK.com, to start this thread nearly two years ago. I never revisited it on this board, but it came out later that Tony Victory put out the controversial message without the band's consent. They sued to get out of their contract with the label, and Tony's unsound business practices were later exposed in an essay by Ramsey Dean, Victory's former veep, called "The Horror." (you can still see it at http://www.motokoaoy...eans-the-horror, but it keeps getting deleted after cease-and-desist orders, and popping up in new places, so google "the horror" and "ramsey dean" to find copies).

This band was initially blamed for the situation (yep, even by me), but took the opportunity in their statement regarding their lawsuit to help expose Tony Victory. So regardless of whether or not I dig their music, I commend them for taking a stand.

Also, regardless of any of these details, it pains me to think anyone would laugh at Casey Calvert's passing. A life, a young life at that, ended. Parents lost a son, a wife lost a husband, and these guys in his band lost a best friend. I would like to think we're a more compassionate community than some of the snarky comments displayed in this thread might otherwise indicate.

Actually, I really like the people here, I've made some good friends this past year. I still do miss a lot of aspects of Phoenix, though, and I'm certainly looking forward to visiting (and maybe performing at?) the Haunted Castle.
