3001 feels like fanfic so far.
it's really full of references and.. not smart.
(im about 35% into it).
I really hope things pickup once -redacted- get to -redacted-

yeah, but i wouldn't stop at the end of 2061, knowing there was one extra book.
but it feels so different from the rest, like, as it wasn't written by the same person.

Yeah, i can see it getting pretty bad as it goes on.
Too bad, because it is pretty good up to that point.
I guess 3001 is the God-Emperor of Dune of the Odissey series. (God, i hated that book).
Also, i'm thinking about starting with the witcher books after 3001.
Anyway read them? is it worth it?
i never played the games, btw (i do own witcher 1 and i'm planning on starting it, after i finish grid 2).

Just finished "Trains, Buses, People: An Opinionated Atlas of US Transit" by Christof Spieler.
Now it's onto "The Next Revolution" by Murray Bookchin. So far the introduction is getting me pretty amped up!
So you like music?
Name every band ever.

1-3 are essential; 4 is fine; 5 is rubbish.
Where to stop reading Hitchhiker's Guide books?
I haven't read any of these since high school. I remember thinking they wrapped up into a nice neat little package.
In high school, I also thought Fight Club was good 😟

i watched dune for the first time because it was free on amazon prime and loved it.
then i started listening to the audio book, seems great. i also started watching blue velvet and and had to go to bed about halfway through. seems nuts but a hard watch.
probably an odd jump off point to simultaneously get into dune / david lynch
i havent seen twin peaks so im looking forward to that. im also 60% through the audio book for dune and im not totally put off by the movie. im not a book reader and am not an intellectual, but i havent felt bad about the movies representation of the novel so far.

yeah, Lynch Dune only work if you already know the book, but as a movie, it's a clusterfuck.
Also, i've only read the ones written by herbert.
I loved the original and Messiah.
Children was okay-ish.
God-Emperor was god-awful.
heretics and chapterhouse were "meh" not even as close as the attrociousness of God, but not close to the original two.
