I'll just keep this short, even though I am completely blown away.

This page explains how to get it all to work. Whoa!

But for the people who don't care enough yet, here is the "All ready done for you" Version. To listen to the music from HUNDREDS of these games (Lots of Falcom titles) do the following (Seriously, it takes 2 minutes):

1. Get this, HOOT and extract it into a folder called "HOOT" .
2. Extract These to the same directory.
3. Extract These to the same directory too. Say yes to overwrite if it asks.
4. Go here PC88, and here PC98 and download the zips of a games soundtrack into it's respective folders.
5. Open HOOT.exe and be blown away!

HOOT command keys:

ARROW KEYS - Highlights chosen selection. (bottom of the screen)
ENTER - Opens folders and plays song titles. (Bottom of the screen)
ESC - Move backwards through folders. (bottom of the screen)
0 - Restarts song
P - Stops song. (sort of)
1-8 - Mutes and unmutes channels.

For starters get yourself Pyramid Sorcerian and save it to your PC88 folder. Then listen to the Track "Grievously Shrine". And this is only the first soundtrack I've checked!

So much new Video game music...... *Boner Overload+Dies*

Yeah, Raddmobile. This sounds really cool, but I too am in the dark. What the hell is the PC8801?

I guess I could look it up myself, though.

Sad thing is fellas, I have no idea what this shit is etiher. I have seen Roms for these platforms floating around before, so I knew they existed, but they are fairly obscure in the west. So I guess it's only fair that I do a little research. Check this link out.

http://bvio.ngic.re....itle=NEC_PC8801

It basicly says: The '''NEC PC8801''' system was introduced by NEC Corporation in 1979. It was an early Zilog Z80-based computer commonly used in Japan. The NEC PC8801 was very popular in Japan, though it was never released anywhere else. Despite the fact that it could only display 8 out of 512 colors at the same time, it had a high display resolution of 640480. The PC8801 especially shined in its sound producing capabilities, which were generally poor on other machines of the time. As was fairly common for 1980s home computers it had its own BASIC dialect, called N88-BASIC. The machine shared quite a few games with the MSX platform, with companies such as Game Arts, ELF, Konami, and other large names in today's industry producing games for it. The companies that produced the most software for this specific system, however, were Enix, Champion Soft, Pony Canyon, T&E Soft, Starcraft, Taito Corporation, ASCII, Micro Cabin, PSK, and Bothtec.

But Basically guys, Download all the Falcom titles you can, because that sound team is bloody amazing. I can not stress that enough. House and Norg, you dudes like your FM synth right? ;) If you guys use Firefox, simply use the DownThemAll tool to download all the files. It takes like 2 minutes. Cool thing is, Hoop.exe sorts them by company first, which means if you get them all, you can listen to all the Falcom games easily.

How far did you get Mills? Is Hoop opening for you? Do you have the PC88, PC98 ect folders saved into the same directory as the Hoop.exe? The soundtracks have to be left in their zip format and saved into the folder of which system they belong too.

yeah actually, i made the hoot directory and extracted all the other folders beneath the hoot directory, then i placed the files for the songs inside the empty folders labeled for the system they were played on, fired up the program and I get the interface but no songs or anything will load.

Check out Pyramid Sorcerian "Grievously Shrine" dude!

On the Bottom left, in the list of games, it should say PC-88 and PC-88VA. It seems like the VA games have much more detailed music, and are in stereo. But the PC-88 ones still sound rad, especially Pyramid Sorcerian.

The X68000 was this gaming computer in Japan, and possibly surpasses the Amiga in terms of power for the time. The Akumajo Dracula (Castlevania) that was released for it was later released as Castlevania Chronicles on PS.

Dude, this stuff is sounding great. It was made by NEC, right? Maybe it was a precursor to the PC Engine (Turbo Grafx)
