I found a DBX compressor down the block from my house, someone had it in their trash. Took it home to test it, and it works. I don't know if I'll end up keeping it, though, I spent years selling off my rack gear so I could have a more compact rig and I can't let a cheap compressor be the gateway to that world again.

You get first dibs then, if I can't find a use for it.

I'm gonna try it in a few different configurations, hopefully one of them will be usable. Definitely not going to use it as a stereo bus compressor though, or rather, on my stereo bus. I'm most interested to use it as an aux send to crunch up some drums through it.

So turns out whatever is causing my loopback issue happens also to my old iO2 Express, but it only happens if i'm sending input and output from the same device. So the workaround is to use my Scarlett for inputs and my iO2 for outputs.

Also mike I never tried doing the ground lift thing, I've heard too many warnings against it to try that

Don't be afraid of ground lifts. I use them and they are essential components, just be sure you do a little bit of research to understand the how's and why's.

Get all those grounds out of here. Knob and tube wiring style, son.

If someone shows up to a basement show and their amp had the ground pin they’re a COP

Just be careful of mics at shows. If they're on the opposite phase you could get shocked.
