It’s a joyous day as I somehow got Sonar 8.5 Producer and its plugins working again. Wonder how long it will work without support?

I did a test mix for Pingo's Christmas album a few months back, along with a video going over my process.  He said it's okay if I share it, so here it is:

Thanks again, Andre!

I learned a new technical term - super-shitty.

After fiddling with cakewalk by bandlab and dipping my toes into ableton live lite I am going to give Reaper a go.  Plus I ordered a new desktop PC, current one is at about 10 years old.  cakewalk by bandlab has mostly been fine, I love a lot of its features and goodies they give you with it so I'll probably continue to utilize it.  I've read a lot of the vsts and effects also work in Reaper, so that's a plus.

Cakewalk is good stuff.  Reaper is great if you want to do really nerdy stuff, but you might find more online help for Cakewalk.

Pingo, please make a tutorial video of you teaching counterpoint to Erich. I want to see at least one fully developed fugue.

My dream is for Erich to reach that level.  We're gonna start with note names, then scales.

Oh yeah Erich here's that fugue I did

This is Excellent!

Oh, hell yeah!  Fuguetacular!

Really dumb question about guitar IRs. Can I use any loader with an IR? Or no?

The short answer seems to be: yes.  I know one exception is the Waves Convolution Reverb plugin.  It has its own format for some of the room reverbs.  But if you're downloading a cabinet IR, it should be pretty simple.

One time SnappleMan told me to be wary of plugins that have delay or something?  Check out Viking Guitar's demo of a bunch of different ones

When using things for guitar tracks, assuming you want to play live through your effect chain, you should make sure none of your plugins are adding any latency. Some more extensive convolution reverbs add a bit of latency.

Too lazy to head to Help Computer.

Turns out the motherboard or CPU or RAM might be at fault for my problems: got a new PSU, fully modular, and now it will turn on when plugged into a PSU tester but not when the ATX 12V is plugged into the corresponding port on the mobo (aka the CPU power slot). Sooooo regardless of what the problem is, my computer is gonna need some hella money poured into it at this point lmao. I'm at least gonna try to troubleshoot whether it's the CPU, RAM or mobo before I buy new parts.
