I'm really, really happy for the time being. I get paid to play the guitar, chess and Super Smash Bros. with the world's most kickass kids for 30 hours a week, I have a nice place to live, an insane pile of hilarious friends that are always at my house, a couple of awesome bands to be in, aaaaaaaand to top it off, I just started dating a Shizz Hero of Steel that more than exceeds my expectations of what a kind and honest dude should be.

What's not to love about my life? Fuck everybody!

I don't even know. For now, not being miserable is good enough. I guess I've got a sweet ass trip to France coming up in a couple weeks, so how bad could things be...

I should focus way, way more on photography (and movies, and music, and books), but being a master of self-defeating behaviors, I've been putting obstacles in between myself and success...

I've never been happier not dating anyone. Friends and family are good. Work is really, really great. Packers are 8-4. Beard is solid.

You know what, after thinking about things a bit more, shit's pretty decent! On to 2010!

me and my girlfriend broke up, school is getting rough, work sucks, the band isnt moving as fast as we want, I feel overwhelmed with existential nihilism and i have no money

positives:
still got some good friends, i can drink now!, st least i have a band, im healthy, FOOD, i start student teaching soon, im going to vegas for the break, and one of my best friends just moved back to az

Sometimes I'm really happy, most of the time actually. Sometimes the little things add up and I get really annoyed.

Pros:
I have an awesome life partner, 6 years together
I just got a promotion at the library and will move to the one closer to my house
I am in good health
I have some solid friends

Cons:
I live with my boyfriend's parents. They are so cool and there is a lot of room, but it still sucks
I am driving my brother's crap car while he is overseas. I wish I had a car of my own that wasn't junky
I don't have health insurance
I wish I had more girl friends who lived in AZ. A lot of my close ones have moved to other cities: Boston, Oakland, New York, and L.A.

I'm moderately content probably 50% of the time and the other 50 is split about 35/15 between miserable and happy. I'm doing things to lower the miserable levels, I've been getting out more and putting a bit more effort into my interests.

Right now I'm not happy because I think I'm getting sick again.

I think folks who tend to be happy will trend that way regardless of the circumstances... alternately folks who are chronically unhappy will tend toward depression regardless.

I'll break the pattern here & admit to being one of the latter. Things are generally good for me - rad material stuff (relatively), good family, friends, some small career success, recently managed to lose 20 lbs (really!), etc... nonetheless every day I avoid flinging myself off a building is a good day. Ain't that rotten? I need attitude adjustment. Or I need to join a hockey team where I can blow off steam reguarly.

(tell you what, though: when I'm happy my songwriting sure sucks)
