Pretty much one of the most original platformers ever. I replayed it this month and got all the gold gems. Good times.

The Pikachu N64 resets on its own a lot more than the regular one... on the regular one, sometimes the spring that holds up the reset button gets weak or gunk gets in the button area. You can get the gunk out by using a toothbrush with Windex to bush down the button and scrub. If you really want to douche it, take it apart with bits that you get at Micro Center (security bit set).

Yes!

Mario Tennis, Harvest Moon, Goldeneye, Smash Bros. .. all FTW. I took a gander at the Zelda games recently, and I was disappointed how badly they've aged. At the time, I thought they were the greatest thing ever, but after a decade and a half of advancement of 3-D gaming technology .. it's pretty rough.

I tried Perfect Dark for the first time last night... amazing game! Especially for it's time. You can really see where Timesplitters grew out of it.

Bomberman 64 might be my favorite bomberman. The 8-directionality makes it stand out quite a bit.

i cross'd a barrier into SCOOPvilLe yesterday and dunked with the best jammers and fresh dip ballers roundabout through an awesome bomb dunk party.

Perfect Dark may be the game I have spent more hours on. I bought it almost on launch day and still play it to this day. I loved the N64, I'm quite certain it is one of the consoles I had more fun with. San Francisco Rush, Star Fox 64, Diddy Kong Racing, Mario 64, Golden Eye, Zelda Ocarina of Time, Banjo Kazooie, Mario Kart 64, Smash Brothers, Donkey Kong 64, Perfect Dark, Jet Force Gemini, Mario Party 2, Mario Tennis, Zelda Majora's Mask, Pokemon Puzzle League, Mario Party 3, Pokemon Stadium, Conker's Bad Fur Day. All games I owned (in that order), beat and thoroughly enjoyed, not regretting buying a single one of them. How I miss those long multiplayer sessions with my brother and sister.

Goemon's Great Adventure is the business, too bad hardly anyone's played it. I HIGHLY recommend it.

Man I loved the N64. I was so happy when I got it. And a few years later when I bought this game called Pilotwings and was all "Oh man this game rocks!", my mom told me of all the trouble she went through to get me an N64 and Mario 64. Apparently she got my aunt who was working in a Wal Mart in North Carolina at the time to hold one for her, shipped it up here, and couldn't find Mario but got Pilotwings instead. Then she heard me talking about how lame Pilotwings looked and she managed to get Mario 64 for me instead. What a mom.

Anyways, games I love:

Mario 64
Pilotwings
Mario Kart (first game I saved up for on my own, like $70 or some shit and I was 13)
Goldeneye (never owned it back then but rented it a lot and played all nighters at my cousin's house. Slappers only + license to kill!)
Blast Corps
Wave Race 64
LoZ:OoT
Mischief Makers
Turok (hated that you needed a memory card)
Star Fox 64
1080
Snowboard Kids (lol, played at theDude and kidb's house a good bit)
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron
Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire
Bomberman 64 (my sister and I would dance around to the song and animation after multiplayer battles)
Pokemon Snap (WONDERFUL!)
Diddy Kong Racing
Extreme G
Ken Griffey Jr.
NFL Quarter Back Club 98
Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey
Multi-Racing Championship (I think I mostly played this after getting my wisdom teeth out or some other oral surgery so my opinion of the game could be aided by nice drugs)
WCW Vs. NWO
Yoshi's Story

I pretty much hated every Rare game on the system (except Blast Corps), and I was so disappointed when I finally got to play DK64 and Jet Force Gemini. I never played Perfect Dark until a few years ago and thus don't really appreciate it compared to Goldeneye. Same with Smash Bros. For a year or two around 1999-2001 I barely played any games. Creeper basically got me back into gaming weather he knows it or not.

The N64 was my heyday for gaming. In Mario Kart, 1080, and Wave Race I pretty much did everything possible. Cleared all the high scores with every racer, do all the stunts in 1 run, etc... I spent a lot of time doing goals that weren't really in the game. I miss having the time to just dick around with games like that.

I heard Jet Force Gemini had a pretty awesome soundtrack to say the least.

DK64 is really a matter of opinion though. I thoroughly enjoyed it, although it suffers from collect-a-thon syndrome more than any other game in existence.

EDIT: Also I thought I'd give Paper Mario a shout-out. Fucking LOVE that game.

Yeah that's the problem. I loved DKC to death. I loved DKC2. I thought DKC3 was fun but never beat it. I was super excited for DK64 basically expecting the wonderment of Mario 64 in Donkey Kong form. But it was just fucking Banjo Kazooie (which I kinda liked but got bored with collecting...) with a big dumb ape instead of a big dumb bear.

All those games I listed above are ones I really loved and put a lot of time into. There's plenty more that I thought were pretty grape at the time even if I didn't own or beat them. Quest 64, Paper Mario, Excitebike 64...

Now Banjo-Kazooie was an awesome game, as well as its sequel, both were huge in my childhood gaming.

I'm not sure if I can relate on the whole "expecting a game similar to the SNES games" thing, I don't really remember what I was expecting.

Honestly I haven't played DK64 in maybe a decade or less, so I would probably hate it now...?

Quest 64

Hahaha, wow, I thought I was the only person who really enjoyed this game!

Thing is though, I didn't really know about the earth shield or any of that stuff, so the game quite literally took me 6 years of on and off playing to beat. Since I knew about the earth shield spell afterwards, I tried playing the game again, and I got all the way to the last castle in a single day, though it took me maybe 10 hours or so of playing.

Yep, if you didn't like Banjo Kazooie, most certainly you wouldn't like DK64. It's a good thing I did. Maybe it has something to do with me being 11-12 years old by the time, cause I'm sure if I had being a little bit older, I wouldn't have enjoyed them as much. I remember that when Banjo Tooie was released, I wasn't as interested in it (I haven't even played it yet, well, I gave it a try some months ago on emulation but I couldn't get into it). I still enjoy playing BK / DK64 nowadays, but it is more a nostalgia driven motivation rather than anything else. Also, Grant Kirkhope fucking rules.
