IFirst of all, lol Wikipedia. The Catholic Church has always been against slavery; when the slave trade started picking up in the 15th century, the popes made enslaving someone an excommunicable offense.

 

Don't laugh at the use of Wikipedia, then reference a site that, due to its vested interest, might have a revisionist attitude when it comes to its organization's history. It would be like relying on the Korean Central News Agency for reliable information on North Korea.

It's easy to make that bare assertion, but why not try pointing out specifics?
