Here's some of what I listen to as far as (really) liquid dnb is concerned. Barely an amen break to be found in these two, at least:

Kemo - Memories

Great piano, nice ebb and flow and just a relaxing, rolling track to absorb.

Oscillist - What We Left Behind

Another introspective, alter minded shoulder-to-lean-upon track with a spritely piano and some pads and a lolling filtered bass.

Adam took this video of Skrillex performing his Reptile Theme for the new Mortal Kombat game.

ohhh also if anyone finds this any value who hasn't heard of it already

http://techno.org/el...ic-music-guide/

pro: genealogy and origins of alot of EDM
Con: very subjective and has been criticized for lack of credibility relating to some fringe hype genres but if that is the case then pitchfork wouldve been taken down years ago

i still like it
its also pretty easy to follow and full of low bit rate samples

I love Ishkur's site so much, I even thanked the guide in the insert of my soon-to-be-released new album Dreamscapes (which is rather electronic). I think it helps that I mostly agree with his assessments and that finding the atmospheric jungle/ambient jungle/trip jungle genre was a godsend.

Seriously, this song changed my life (and my horizons):

That said, I think some of the genre descriptions are quite amusing and the world definitely needs more music from them (Ghetto Tech, anyone?).

Oh yeah, and the Electro Funk section helped me discover the awesomeness that is Zapp & Roger, which in turn led me to getting a talkbox for Christmas. I haven't used it yet, but I certainly will!

Band: Jullan
Album: Elecromance
Year: 1984
Country: Japan

I can only really enjoy vocoder stuff that was actually made in the 80s. At least then it wasn't hip to be retro. It was fucking cutting edge 80s future.

And some Yellow Magic Orchestra for good measure.

NICE!! I LOVE LTJ Bukem, I have some friends who are really into D&B and told me about him, but I misheard and spent an eternity searching for "DJ Book 'Em"

On a slightly related note, the Secret Art Of Science is a fucking AWESOME comp! http://www.amazon.co...b/dp/B00005LPY3

I've had this song on loop for at least 20 minutes. The production is unbelievable. Those main staccato synths sound absolutely gorgeous! The mood is super introspective and ultra ultra chill. Lastly, the vocals are very relaxed, similar to Chroma Key. I'm sure there is a term for these type of vocals, where the pronunciation of the lyrics is really lazy and warm.

Anyway, this track is a keeper.

first of all, funky fm music just really does it for me.  Even if it's something corny like early mariah carey I can get way into the music with the fm bass and keys going on.   Then, there's everything else in this song.  The enigmatic title.  The synth programming brings out all the right emotional responses in me:  leads that remind me of thunderforce (even if the portamento isn't quite as exaggerated), chording synths that remind me of very old and charming genesis osts like super monaco (except somehow they don't sound as flimsy here), and of course a solid bass.  Great original motifs, interesting harmonies, good melody, rhythm.. everything that can make a song great is here!

I found a couple covers by Gershon Kingsley that I dig:

Also:

I found a '60s/70s moog torrent on Demonoid. A lot of Beatle cover albums and the like, not too much in the way of original tunes though.
