Wished I could say I was shocked, but you could tell 10 seconds into trailer 1 that this was going to be poopoo...

Debating on seeing it now. May just wait til video now.

I haven't read the Dark Tower books, but as a fan of things that have been adapted into terrible movies, I offer my sincerest condolences.

I've read book 1 & 2 and even with that partial amount, from the reviews I can safely say the movie is Not My Book.

yeah Mike from everything I've seen in the trailer it looks more like a fraction of book 3 moreso than it's anything from books 1 and 2.

Well, the TV series is still on and is supposed to be fully independent of the movie now.

Perhaps there is hope for that.

All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.

Well, in-universe there are alternate realities where the Dark Tower movie is a well-made worldwide phenomenon

A friend of mine who's way into the books wants to see it on Sunday so I guess I'm seeing it. I should probably drink a few beers first.

Did anybody end up actually seeing this? I almost went last night, but changed my mind and read comics at home. Probably the right choice.

This movie has forgotten the face of its father.

So this is what people were so excited to finally see adapted? I don't know the books at all but something obviously went astray. Guessing there were lots of re shoots, rewrites, and cut content because what we got is kind of a mess.

Spoiler

Also after watching that I am pretty much convinced that if somebody wanted to adapt the Thomas Covenant series with enough of a budget and talent behind it could work. Not as a movie but as a series.  I think the trick would be starting with the middle books because Thomas Covenant is a really unlikable character. But now I'm derailing

Went because I had to kill time before a flight. It was a super mediocre young adult film. There were a couple good moments in it but otherwise..... ugh. Probably good for the mid-adolescent audience.

What the fuck did i just watch? Even if this wasn't based on the dark tower books it would have been a bad movie. It was even more confusing for being forced to borrow elements from the books because there was no time to explain what anything meant.

Exactly.

Was it a bad movie, even disregarding the books?  Yes.

Was it a bad movie, as an adaptation of the books?  YES.
