I've told them that the worst-kept Shizz secret is that we love the Protomen.

Haha. I had some strong feelings about this back in those days. I was so riled.

I'm not even going to look at my old posts. Everything I posted pre 2012 was pure cringe, and I don't know how anyone put up with me before then.

I really sat on a response to all of this, but I'm of the camp of "hey wow they have ability and a great stage show and cool costumes" but I just don't...get it, I guess. The music is good, but I've had SO many friends tell me how I would love them and be wowed and all this shit and I get bored by a certain point. I saw them with BB and MAVS last year, went for the first two, but felt I should at least see their whole show to see if I missed something, and I don't know...it just didn't fit like I wanted it to based on what my closest friends say.

I dig their vision, but to bring attention to another band with a similar "thing" going on, it's like Coheed & Cambria. People are ravenous for the story and operatic nature (and honestly I fucking love those dudes and hid it in high school to not further my ass-beatings I already received), and those same fans just don't get it when it doesn't click for you. Tool has this vibe as well. Anyways this is a big stupid rant to say "oh hey I also understand what a lot of you are saying, and this has been a good discussion overall".

Cool guys. Would only go to see them for the openers, who usually rule.

BUT, before I forget, Phantom Racer is an excellent fucking TWRP song that The Protomen make better with vocals so there's that.

I don’t get like... most of the VGM-adjacent but not VGM bands.

I do get along with the people in them that I have met tho!

If you guys are looking for things to crap on, how about Mac Sabbath

Now I’ll probably book a tour with them next year then tell you all what chill guys they are.

First time I saw them, I was disappointed to discover that they don't actually do Mega Man songs ala The Megas. I came around once I moved past my expectations. Their albums are just ok though - I seem to catch them live every three or four years and that works for me.

I was very excited to open or MS a few years ago, but I was sorely disappointed. I don't know what I was expecting tho. It was terrible. Also, they brought that band Black Pussy with them, which we were unaware of until the day before the show, who also turned out to be huge assholes. Everything about that show was bad, including our keyboard player being sexually harassed while we were on stage.

Bands being named about or anything around "Mega Man" is as problematic in 2019 as it was in 2011.
