Who said anything about earning respect or you trying to be popular? I just was insinuating you're a hypocrite.

Because, you know.....you're being a dick.

Oh crap...I mean a twat.

Sorry, don't want to come off as being gender insensitive. I do that sometimes.

You can cut the sexual tension in this room with a knife
:P :P :P

these hilary clinton-looking women must be pressing their buttholes right up against the sides of the stall and letting it rip.

icing bag style.

I haven't watched the video so I'm not sure of the context, but I agree that "all men are potential rapists" is more about how women are expected to view men, not that the desire to rape lurks within every single man, just waiting for the right opportunity. I think we can all agree that the vast majority of men have no desire to rape and never will. This is about how women are expected to live their lives.

Sindra, I don't know why every time someone brings up rape you want to act like it's not a problem people should be talking about. Maybe you're one of those ladies who wants to appear anti-feminist because they think it's attractive to men. I don't know. But something like 1 in 5 women are raped or sexually assaulted in their lifetime. It's also true that they are more likely to be raped by someone they know than a stranger. I also know that the incidence of rape and sexual assault has fallen a lot in the past 20 years.

Like I said earlier, if I did what women have been conditioned to do and treated every man as a potential threat, I wouldn't be living my life, but I know that if something did happen to me someday, a lot of fucking people would blame me for meeting up with guys I only know from the internet, having male friends I don't know that well over to play videogames, walking through the park alone after dark, smiling at strange men I see on the street, and a bunch of other stuff I don't want to stop doing.

Weener: a dyke for all seasons.

Oh yes, you nailed it completely. I denounce rape against women because I secretly want all the guys to notice me. You got me dead to rights. Has nothing to do with fanatical feminist bullshit being spewed about willy nilly and making me a bit embarrassed for my own gender.

I'd say this thread is now a 7 on the Bristol Stool Chart, or as I like to call it, The Wiz Splatter Spill

I'm with Sindra in not finding the appeal to contribute to this pile of just...concentrated awful.

I was naive in thinking that "contribution" always meant good things. I've learned a lot in this thread. About myself.

No reason to get all personal in here. I still think the statement about potential rapists is outrageous. If it's really about protecting one's self, why not rephrase it to that effect? Encouraging women to be cautious and capable in dangerous situations sounds reasonable and empowering instead of viewing a whole gender as criminals. I don't need to prove my innocence to all 3.5 billion women.

I'm not trying to actually say this, but by the same logic one could say all women are potential prostitutes since women are more likely to be in that profession than man. Again, I wouldn't think that or earnestly say that but hopefully points out the flaw in the logic.

It reminds me of this Family Guy episode that isn't on Youtube so you'll have to imagine you can see it and read this clippet from imdb:

Female Student: [after spraying Brian in the face with mace] I'm sorry, I just came from that orientation seminar about college dating.
Kelly McGillis: [Scene cuts to an auditorium of students watching a video] Hi, I'm Kelly McGillis and I'm here to talk to you about rape. Ladies, look to your left. Now look to your right. Statistics indicate that both of those men will rape you.
Male Student #1: [Female student is seen sitting between two male students. She looks nervously at them] I'm not gonna rape you.
Male Student #2: I might.

I was once lured into an unsafe situation and nearly raped -- by a woman. So there are definitely opposite cases, men who rape men, women who rape women, etc. Though it's probably safer to assume you could be attacked by anyone and not let your guard down for specific sex/etc.

Edit: and no the experience did not make me assume every woman is a rapist. That's silly.

This thread should be locked.

...

Nothing could possibly be more offensive than quoting Family Guy.

Food goes here.
