Re: rape, I can't find the image right now, but it was a conversation between two dads or something and it summed up my feelings on the matter pretty well. It went something like "What are you teaching your little girl/having her wear so you'd feel comfortable with her being at parties with drunk dudes later on?" and his response was basically "You worry about not raising a little shit who thinks rape is ever an option because no one should have to worry".

How sad is it some dudes can't control themselves? (which is why, as shitty as it is, self defense is a good thing to learn. You can never completely eliminate fucked up people, and dudes will always have penises, which are a lot easier to assault with than vaginas). And then taking all of it out on another gender because your penis was denied something is pretty fucked too. 9 times out of 10 when some dude is complaining about a girl being a slut, I later find that it's because she didn't sleep with him, not overall number of partners/personality/anything else. Can't we all just respect each other and agree that sex is awesome and no one should be judged for it? Instead of shaming an entire gender for your failure with one (or more) chicks, take a look at the common denominator (you) and work on that for a change.

Wizwars, about the bush hogging. Just wet and part my man. Give that bush the Moses treatment and head for the Promised Land.

Whaaaaaaaaat.

Who said anything about earning respect or you trying to be popular? I just was insinuating you're a hypocrite.

Because, you know.....you're being a dick.

Oh crap...I mean a twat.

Sorry, don't want to come off as being gender insensitive. I do that sometimes.

Who is coming off as a hypocrite here? Who's being a dick/twat here?
Why are you attacking people? Are you not capable of having a civil conversation? <_<
You seem to have a problem with most females on this board.

No worries, that's all I have to say about this. Bye, thread! <3

are factions of people getting more clearly defined?

is there a group of young people who don't end up nerding-out on computers in some way, and just concentrate on IRL activities for fun?
and they grow up never nerding out and have marvelous lives?

to me, it looks like nerd culture is striving to slowly become the norm.
is that just because the only contact i have with the world sometimes is the internet, which may be biased and not report on non-nerd happenings as much?

look at movies like napoleon dynamite. the protagonist is the nerd. the normal kids are portrayed as pretty empty, although you gather there is nothing wrong with them in terms of ability to roll in society.

i feel like it sends a message to non-nerds that the normal way is not cool anymore.

or is it that nerds are always glorified in entertainment?

Probably because media like gaming is becoming the norm as well, and the lines are blurring between who is and who is not a nerd or a geek. What's "normal" anymore, honestly? Can we define it in today's world, simply because media like the internet is such a huge part of our every-day lives now, when before things like computers were exclusive to "nerds"? It's refreshing in a sort of way, but the place of the outcast will be taken up by a new group before long. (Hipsters may have just been a warm-up!)

And DaisyBomb, I have to say your statement is false. I enjoyed the company of the likes of Tina, Sunny, Vivi, Snowdog, pieNESS and Darmock quite thoroughly at MAGfest, and I'd love to meet Toadette one of these days. :)

oh that makes sense. so the traditional nerds grow up with the preps and they all get along enough in old age, but their kids..

the normies give birth to kids that are down with computers and sports (i'm reeeeeally simplifying this)

while the nerds give birth to ULTRA nerds. kids who eat and shit pokemon, use magic cards as napkins, and use WOW as research for a term paper.

and the beatings continue

Sometimes I resent that so many of the things that made me nerdy and special when I was younger are now normal.

I must be the son of a normie, I'm good at sports and computers, but I'm so different and dislike most people (in general) right now.

you are definitely a new nerd, lol

being good at sports was just a liberal way of conjuring the traditional factions of young people

use magic cards as napkins

I am rather envisioning that they're playing Magic at the dinner table, and not actually eating.

I'm in a similar spot where I'm good with people, always made a lot of friends, partied all the time, and love videogames way too much, so it always seems like im too normal to the nerd folk and i feel too nerdy deep down inside to feel at home with the normal folk.
