So I looked and couldn't find a general keyboard thread so I thought what the hell. I am actually interested to know if there are any other fellow primarily keyboard players on here. All I think I know of is Cubosh, Kareshi and Demonstray? A rare breed in this guitar world, I suppose. :D

Anyway, with the Wakeman and Parsons talk I got hyped on gear and stuff again and started checking some stuff out. I saw this and got stoked since I've always wanted something like it:

I'm almost certain there's a Keyboard thread, but I wasn't able to find it either.

I don't play, but I'm gonna share some of my favorite key ticklers.

Hiromi is my girl. So much energy and skill it's disgusting.

This entire album has this kind of understated minimalist sound. Love it.

Mats Oberg is a genius. Hell, everyone in Mats & Morgan is incredible.

Brodan fucking rips it up on keys! If you saw the mobile band The Uncanny Fresh Men at MAGfest, that was him on the keytar. He has also played keys for Lord Machino.

As for me, I can only play Trampled Underfoot by Zeppelin, but I want to get better. I have a shitty midi (shiti midi) controller with some busted keys, a Yamaha TX81z, and a Roland thing that's like a digital synth that's pretending to be an analog one. They're both so fucking confusing to use, but the presets sound awesome!

DUDE. First off, Hiromi is a babe and is now my waifu. I feel that I am destined to go to Japan and meet an amazing keyboardist and fall in love with her and that'll be it.

Second, That Mats & Morgan shit is AMAZING. I LOVE IT. You just changed my world. Thank you.

There's this:

http://theshizz.org/...eyboarda/page-1

but it never really took off like you'd think it should?  Or maybe my concept of how into synths people are on this board is inflated.

Aww sorry I didn't find it. I find that the search function sucks here...

That was kinda the vibe I got too but maybe if we bring it all to light it will be more prevalent :D

I found a youtube channel filled with videos of two sisters shredding on a large variety of vintage and current synths. I cant seem to find any of their videos now...

+1's all around

Indeed. Just use google to find theshizz threads. Then use google a second time after the fucking URLSHORT bug.

ON TOPIC - Ballsy, but I'm putting my chips on David Cook's solos being better than Greg Howe's on this version of Proto Cosmos. The keys are a shining example of how to properly use phrasing.

He doesn't post much around here at all anymore, but if you're not familiar with Shnabubula, prepare to have your mind stacked, blown, and/or fucked

He has a pretty extensive discography, if you're curious.

Ohhh THAT's what that thread is...lol

DUDE. I LOVE Shnabubala's stuff... I am a major fan. I actually liked him before I was on the Shizz and I am sad he isn't around much now that I am on here. :(

You're almost certainly talking about The Synth Freq and her sis:

Make sure to check out her jams "Chasing the Storm," "Love Finds You," Spirit of DX," etc.

That room is beautiful. They are SUPER in to synths. So awesome.

I knew finding/making this type of thread would do wonders. Thanks TheShizz.

We've had this thread a few times before over the years, it always dies after a while. Let's make sure this one lives.

And yes, TheSynthFreq is awesome, I've been watching her videos for years.

Almost got her to collab on my DoD track covering Savage. It would have been a shame to have her grace such a terrible song

I don't know where she gets the patience to maintain and program all those synths though. Programming synths from before like 1998 is generally the worst thing you can do as a musician (though I have a couple late 80s synths that I really enjoy programming so whatev).
