This has bugged me for a while now, but is there some sort of active variant of an OCR or DoD type thing that deals with remixes of anime themes and BGM instead of just VGM?  It's probably still not as much of a thing, but the idea definitely seems a more common than it used to, even in the west.

So far all I've seen is animeremix.org and that looks it's been dead for years now, but I've seen this stuff plenty on youtube and soundcloud before.  If I might've just answered my own question, I'll try and keep an actual point to this thread's existence, and just say, idunoooo...

Anime remix general

So yeah, discussies, post your favorites, or post stuff you've made yourself.

To start, here's a few I've done:

A Gentleman's Legacy - Sono Chi no Sadame (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Phantom Blood OP)

https://www.youtube....h?v=02OuQB8i3GI

Dragon Ball Z medley (Bruce Faulconer Soundtrack)
https://www.youtube....h?v=sYNlC3nEj1M

Cutie Honey (Ver. TF)

https://www.youtube....h?v=6aRvBwkbOyE

And for a personal favorite that I actually liked better than the original:

Before My Body is Dry (Kill la Kill) cover by LittleVMills

https://www.youtube....h?v=n567Tkgx2Po

Also, lemme know if this even warrants its own discussion outside the established Anime thread, cause I wasn't entirely sure about that.

I don't watch anime, but I am a big fan of Erutan / Kate Covington and I looooove this cover from Fruit Basket

Although we all know the best anime cover ever is this masterpiece

Nice!  I remember thinking Fruit's Basket kinda sucked, but that was lovely :3

The second thing made me cry deep bitch tears of unbridled joy.

Anywho, I kinda forgot this one.  I tend to forget it exists nowadays, and I was still really new into doing remixes and stuff at the time at all (and it shows), but it's somehow still the most popular thing I've put on youtube to date.  Which is not saying a whole lot, but y'know...is a thing.

I don't know about a larger database similar to OCR, but here's one another Shizzie and I did a while back.

oh my god

yeah I co-ran Anime Remix for a while but the actual site owner and guy with the access was MIA for years, so it just never got finished and died off. These songs probably would have been welcome there, but alas.

The best tracks that ever got uploaded imo are the ones from Aktulua (!) and Reuben Kee who unfortunately died tragically in a dragon boating accident (RIP :( )

Also remember that time Andrew WK did a Gundam cover?

This is pretty much the be-all-end-all of anime theme covers and everything else can go to hell.

Andrew WK did like an ENTIRE ALBUM of Gundam covers

Richie Kotzen did a Gundam one, but some songs were so modified they almost weren't recognizable.

I rather enjoy 8 bit remixes of anime stuff.

Use 800 gigabytes of samples, I give approximately 0 gigafucks.

Where does Mario poop in the airship? Behind his chair? In Cappy?

About a year ago, Finbeard and his flute-playing friend Maho asked me to record bass for a cover of the opening theme to a food-based anime with 2-minute episodes.

I was happy to oblige.
