Personally, I think the soundtrack to Outrunners is criminally underrated. So flippin' groovy.

Hey peeps, we just put out another video! This is our take on one of our all-time favorite VGM tunes "Front Line Base" from U.N. Squadron!! Manami Matsumae doesn't mess around.   P.S. Keyboard guitar is silly fun.

Great, great work, dudes.  I've noticed other people getting solid guitar-like sounds from Motif 8s before...is that a stock sound in there are a sample you loaded up?

Thanks dudes! Yeah Jace! It's a stock patch on the M08, but I tweaked with it a bunch and then doubled it with another guitar patch much quieter and then saved all that to a new performance slot. Obviously not gonna fool anyone, but a pretty cool sound, especially live.

Karly, have you ever thought of using guitar pedals for your live set up? Like maybe a like gain/overdrive to combine with a synth to get a more guitar tone? Or pushing it through a speaker? One thing I love about Super Soul Bros, live..is Robby's tone. I think he uses an 80s Peavey keyboard amp.. Vic Viper had the keybaord going through a tubed Mesa Boogie amp for a show and that was probably the most guitar-sounding Mike ever sounded

also your staggers in the melody are SO GOOD

I second that. Also guitar delay to make the synth sound a bit less dry.

Thanks, that's a great idea! Yeah I have pondered that. That would definitely help particularly with the tunes that have a guitar-like lead. A pedal would be ideal, so I could add it to certain tunes. Any fairly cheap overdrive pedals you guys would recommend? I've always been a fan of the tube screamer...

I would definitely expect tube screamers and their millions of clones across the $$$ spectrum to be cool for synth applications because they are generally rather subtle. For making things a tad "wetter" I might recommend a decent reverb. Tc Electronics Hall of Fame is amazing bang for the buck.

I dunnnnnnnnooo....there's already a bit of reverb and delay built into the patches.  I think this sounds great without pedals!

Good pitch and mod wheelin'!

Sure. I'm not necessarily saying he needs a wetter tone per se, just that if he wants one....I mean I will say that the stuff on TheSynthFreq's YouTube channel is a paragon of guitar emulation, and a liiiitle wetness definitely helps with that.

Rockman & Forte is one of our all-time favorite soundtracks. Here is our take on the classic Naoshi Mizuta tune "Museum".
