Wind Waker wows me every time I play it.

Skyward Sword wows me when I watch people play it because I don't have it.

Majora's Mask wows me every time I play it.

Legend of Zelda games wow me.

Breath of the Wild will wow me.

The thing with Zelda games for me is discovering the secrets and exploring the map. And dumb stuff, like getting letters from the mailman, fishing, and viewing Goron nurps. I've enjoyed every Zelda game I've played. Twilight Princess is probably my favorite because the map is so extensive (keep in mind I didn't own a console until I was like 21 so I have no nostalgia for the really old ones).

So I'm thinking this has potential to be the best Zelda game yet.  It really does look like Zeldar Scrolls, and I'm perfectly OK with that. Currently regretting not pre-ordering a Switch, and I think I'll be getting one as soon as they're widely available.

Things I noticed from that video, in no particular order:

Boomerangs are definitely present. I read one impression that discussed that you actually have to catch the returning boomerang. If you don't, you gotta hunt it down.

I remember before the announcement of Breath of the Wild thinking about the future of Zelda games. I think Link Between Worlds is one of the best Zelda games to come out in a very long time. I love Wind Waker and really enjoyed Skyward Sword (though I've only played through it once) and I was thinking how I don't need another Skyward Sword or Twilight Princess or Ocarina type game. I was thinking about what I would want from a Zelda game and thought how rad it would be if they did an HD and 3D "remake" of the original. Like, basically the same game but in a 3D world with more modern mechanics involved. Like Skyward Sword but the entire world is just a redone version of the NES game.

...then I saw Breath of the Wild's trailer and realized that's essentially what it is. It feels like it's going to be very much like the original game just way bigger scale and different story and elements and I am so fucking excited for Friday. I'm going to invest so many hours into this game

First leaked review from Edge magazine. They gave it a 10/10

The closing lines stoked my hype fires to the limit:

"Nineteen years on, Ocarina is still held up as the high-water mark of one of gaming's best-loved -- and greatest -- series. Now it may have to settle for second place."

Man, I really think this is Nintendo's big comeback.  It seems the Switch will have substance, not just gimmicks and waggles.

I mean I've never doubted Nintendo's ability to deliver solid fun first party games. But how successful the switch is will still rely on how their 3rd party library pans out. That's been the downfall of their consoles and success of their handhelds for like the last 10 years
