I tried searching for a general purpose controller thread and couldn't find one, so here we are. Feel free to use this for all your controller related topics.

I had mentioned in 11:60 how I was looking into getting a stick for the recent RetroPie I had put together, and with a birthday coming up, my wife offered to get me one. I went with the cheapest full sized stick I could find, which ended up being the Mayflash f500, and modded it with Sanwa buttons and a Sanwa JLF stick, then added custom art. Modding the stick was a piece of cake for the most part, as none of this required soldering. Pretty much plug-and-play. The only problem I had involved the wiring harness I ordered, which fit the stick, but not the board. That's an easy enough fix, though, and I've got a replacement on order. Cutting out the holes for the buttons and then trimming the cut-outs to fit the clear caps was the thing that took the longest by far.

Anyhow, here's some pics. I think my choice of art might be relevant to your interests (sorry if you're on social networks and already saw this).  ^_^

I got them from https://paradisearcadeshop.com and I'd highly recommend the place. Ben there is amazing, the customer service was great, and the shipping speed was like lightning (order last Friday, shipped same day, and arrived from Minnesota to Florida on Monday). Maybe most importantly, he was willing to assemble those buttons to my specs (clear plungers and opaque rims aren't standard). I went to focusattack.com at first because they're the most popular and I had received a recommendation to do so, but they didn't sell the clear plungers separately. You can get a fully clear button from them, but I'd have ended up with an entire extra set if I went with them, which would've been a waste of money and parts.

I do. The company I work for printed the LP Jackets for the band back when the album came out, and I grabbed the art off the server. It's been my work computer desktop since then and I see the image every day so it just made sense to use the art for the stick.
