Yeah, I hit a song that was 18 minutes long (Utopia - Alpha Ceti) and it would have been nice to be able to jump around in the song itself. I think I gave that one 4 minutes before I said fuck it and moved to the next track, which was like 50 seconds long, so that was a weird mismatch in itself.

75 down, thousands more to go lol

Right now, the required listening time is the smallest between 1 minute and half the song's length (which is usually one loop of it), so you shouldn't have to wait more than a minute even if the song if really long.

Since this is such an important part both in terms of usability and track ranking, can anyone else share their opinion on this? I would tend to agree, as it's only a matter of selecting which track one prefers, whereas the Top NES Tracks project was about giving each invididual song a rating, which definitely requires more than 30 seconds of listening in some cases.

Oh, and for what it's worth: when listening to a song outside of a duel, you actually can move around the song. Seeking is a bit slow, but that's a limitation of the SPC format.

I don't know if it's possible but it would be cool if we could seek around the song AFTER hitting a threshold, so that way you have to listen to a specific amount from the beginning but after you can go around.

Rating these feels a little different from the NES songs. Where the NES stuff really has a limited set of timbres across many thousands of songs, the SNES stuff has way more variety. And that variety can immediately clue you in about how you feel about a song. I definitely had a few songs that immediately I disliked just because of wild offensive or garbage sounding instruments.

Mostly I'm considering my time doing this. I did 50 today and it more or less took me all afternoon to do so.

Interesting idea! I'll try to make that happen.

I got kind of tired of pitting mediocre tracks against each other. In a lot of cases, as soon as track B was finished, I said "how did track A go again?" and I had to listen to it a second time. Then I had to listen to track B again because I forgot how it sounded as well. This is why I preferred having a nomination phase

Hooky fuck I picked a great taco Bell. The woman at the front of the line is painstakingly asking every price, she just ordered a cheesy horror crunch with just cheese and sorcery nothing else, Questor with just beef nothing else, one soft Teddi with 3x cheese, double sour Satan, nothing else. Quivering now the man behind her orders a taxi BVSc to Yusuf Khan, two tweaks with dignity Leuven and no beef??? And a cheesy fissure crunch with extra extra Chertsey and chickenpox nothing else. Fucking hell people it's taco vein not your last meal on earth

That feeling when you don't recognize the song, but you know the game because of the instruments. You're in:

I believe you got it now, can you confirm?

I understand the frustration, the same thing happens to me sometimes. Maybe we could try and lower the minimum required listening time for tracks that got shitty votes, or even a subpar duel record? How would you feel about that ? Or do you have another suggestion?

This contest is over, Shin Momotarou Densetsu - Mashira's Theme is a winner.

Congratulations! :P I have yet to hear something that bad... but I'm sure there are at least a couple more, let's find them all and shitty-vote them to hell!

I got it like, 15 mins after posting that lol. I'm 10 duelz in. This is fun!

Lol, so bad it's... bad. Funny thing is, the rest of the OST is pretty nice, which makes me thing that particular track is bad on purpose. Take this other track from the same OST as an example.

It's a bit annoying to have to memorize a track's name and close the popup to find its play button. Maybe I'll try and add a button to the popup so we can link and play tracks more directly.

Man, listen to the bass drum in this one (close to the loop end)!

This is definitely relatable. Sometimes I'm selecting the superior composition, and sometimes I'm selecting for sound design. I think that's all part of the system though, probably much more so than other consoles.
