Y'know, sometimes pop songs are really good. So here's a place for them. And apologies if this thread already exists! I tried to find it with no luck.

So I'll start with an obvious (to me) track, or at least one that I keep hearing mentioned lately - Toxic by Britney Spears. I've always thought the instrumentation on this one - the strings, nasty synths, spy guitar, etc - was really cool, and maybe even a little ahead of it's time.

Toxic is the perennial "better than it really ought to be" pop song.

I don't own anything of his, but I can say that I've never hated anything J Timberlake has put out.

I never would have admitted it in 2000, but Baby Bye Bye Bye is one of the catchiest God damn choruses I've ever heard. The music video is also very silly. And it has orchestra hits. Who doesn't love those?

Firework by Katy Perry legitimately lifts my spirits, and damn she can belt it out! The backing track is pretty stock, but her vocals make up for it.

Roar is also pretty good, but I don't enjoy any of her other stuff.

JT is obvioulsy very legit. That Trolls movie song is another great uplifter.

i cross'd a barrier into SCOOPvilLe yesterday and dunked with the best jammers and fresh dip ballers roundabout through an awesome bomb dunk party.

I like Suit & Tie. Everyone was doing that neo disco thang 5-10 years ago, and even JT wasn't immune.

yooo all of the Teenage Dream and most of the Prism albums are legit as fuck and i 100% love them. not feeling anything after that though. Katy 4 Ever

sometimes i get drunk and listen to Taylor Swift but i'm only into a few songs. Bad Blood, Shake It Off, Blank Space are some top notch shit

also notable Drunk Joe jams: Avril Lavigne 'Girlfriend', Avenged Sevenfold 'Bat Country' and Marina And The Diamonds 'Bubblegum Bitch' + 'Primadonna' (i can tell i've been drinking less frequently because as i typed those i was like 'damn, i haven tjammed out to some Marina in a long time' lol)

also a huge fan of the first 4 Panic At The Disco albums

last year Mig and I went to see Pitbull and it was fun as fuck. i love hardcore/grind/ powerviolence but sometimes those shows can be super not-fun (15 dudes standing around in a dark storage unit bobbing their heads isnt exactly a party). so i wasn't sure if i would enjoy a big arena show and almost didn't go, but the day of i was like 'fuck it, if nothing else it will be a funny story'. well i can attest that Mr Worldwide came out and killed it, played all the hot hits and spoke out against authority figures, from the police all the way down to....bail bondsmen? i have never heard even the most political punk band get that specific. it was a great night. i ate a slice of deep fried cheesecake and saw a lot of hot latina moms get wasted

These guys may be more popular here in Canada than they are south of the border, but I legitimately dig Mother Mother. They're arguably more indie-rock than straight-up pop music but their last few albums definitely have veered more into pop territory.

Thread title somewhat implies that some of us weren't going to come in here and be like..."uh, thousands" :P

I'm pretty obsessed with Carly Rae. For some reason the first thing that came to my mind though was Wrecking Ball from Miley. Maybe because I've done it at karaoke a couple of times this year.

What's considered pop in this context? Like anything 80-modern American? Would 80s Japanese pop like Toshiki Kadomatsu count? Or Modern J-pop?
