Well man, I'm not saying you have to go to that poorly booked show. I wouldn't either, and I have zero kids.

It's not like people in Phoenix aren't used to roaches.

Don't you have cats? We had issues with the buggers until we go a cat, and then it wasn't so much an issue. Cats are very handy.

There is a cat, but it is hella mentally challenged and is too busy freaking out when it sees wads of paper to take care of roaches.

But those damn bugs are mostly taken care of now that we patched up the holes in the wall.

i just don't get the idea of "being too old" for something, or even feeling weird or out of place because you don't know a lot of people at a given function or because some of your friends have moved on to other things (or disappeared altogether).

sure, there were some good periods where a lot of people were concentrated in a few hot spots, but there's still plenty of great things to do and plenty of great people around.  i think you just have to be willing to get out and try things, even if it means going it alone.

but back to the 'too old' thing: that was a really common thing i heard from shizz-type people when i first started visiting and moved out here.  people approaching 30, or in their early 30s were at that point talking about being too old to do things, or lamenting about changes, and now that i'm that age i REALLY don't understand it.  the same people are still using the same lines.

obviously responsibilities with family and children and such are a bigger and valid concern, and i'm not trying to say those don't take priority, but in general, it seems to kind of be the same as its always been.

it really comes down to mindset and balancing social life with responsibilities.  i'm not sure why i'm even typing all this out, or if i'm really getting my point across, but fuck it.

Because, Mig, sometimes you just feel super old. That is where 5hr energy comes in handy.

Also, I just looked and I haven't posted on the shizz in like 2 years!

ooohggg. 5 hr energy is the devil's potion.

It's practically a heart attack in a bottle, it should really come with an (over-sized) warning label. I can handle pure kick'd sparks, that's not so bad, but those 5hr energy make me very very much on edge. I can only drink 1/2 at a time.

I've always wondered if a half a bottle equals 2.5 hours of full energy or 5 hours of half energy?

1/2 bottle for me is 5 hours of energy without heart palpitations, which is about perfect.

It's not that I'm physically too old to go do it,

yeah, thats my same thing. i am just using shorthand to say 'well if i go to this show to see one band that is sort of ok, but it starts 3 hours late and they play at 1230 on a tuesday THEN i get a black eye from a garbage can or mic stand, i will have to go to my professional job on no sleep with a fucked up face, and thats just not worth it. also i will have stood around awkwardly for a few hours because its really hard to be the random old guy at HC shows just trying to what...go up to kids and be like 'hey guys, hows The Scene?"'

i dont have kids, but i do have a wife who i support and if something happens to me, its not like 'oh well, guess i will just switch my job from frys to trader joes'...it would wreck my life for the near future.

also its not like i do stay home all the time. i *did* go to a show by myself over the weekend, at a bar. standing around hoping for people you even sort of know while you drink water is crappy, but when they played it was 30 minutes of greatness, so that was cool. then i drank some Body Armor Brand Super Drink because i love it and it replenishes my old bag of meat body :P
