I may just have to pick up this cheap Doom Trilogy. I can't afford Doom 3 right now though.

Don't bother with the Doom trilogy. Get JDoom at doomsdayhq.com, and get the WADs from pretty much any Shizzite. Best $0 you'll never spend.

That reminds me of one time. I was playing the Heretic add-on a couple of weeks back. I got to E5M8, right? With the 8 Maulotaurs? Yeah, so I start totally ruining their shit (strafing > every enemy in that game) with some Phoenix rounds and Hellstaff, right? Well, then it gets down to the last one. So, just to be funny (my totally cool friend Adam was watching at the time), I pulled out my Oak Staff and charged at the son of a motherfucker.

My exact words: "Bitc-holy fuck!" I killed it with the fucking staff. For those not in the know about Heretic, the oak staff is a weapon ill-suited to be killing anything. You do a random 1-8 damage per hit. Maulotaurs have 3000 hit points. You do the math.

Needless to say, that was the coolest thing I'd ever done.

Only thing I remember about Heretic was that there was a tome of power or something, and when you got it all your weapons did crazy shit... the oak staff had like a blue wave thing when you hit someone with it.

Oh yeah, and IDDQD killed you. That was awesome.

yeah heretic was alright , too close to doom for my likeing though

i enjoyed hexen quite a bit though especially at the start where u punch out those windows.
that start was awsome.

hexen 2 was a bit too drab.

and heretic 2 was pretty good but i didnt have a fast enough machine to run it. and by the time i did i was sort of bored of it.

currently playing doom2 with jdoom and is waiting for freind to get 3 off suprnova.

im still buying it of course. since ive bought every single game id made except for wolfenstein.
i just played the shareware of that.

Anyone tried killing a cyberdemon in Doom with regular punches? Bezerker doesn't count, nor that one level that has a cyberdemon that can't really do anything but walk in place

I tried several times to kill a cyberdemon with regular punches but it gets so frustrating when you get killed after you punched him for 5-10 minutes and he's still standing

On the Doom Trilogy, on Ultimate Doom, I just beat the first episode (I think that's what a set of 7-8 levels is called) and I beat the 2 cyberdemons, then I get transported to a room where a bunch of guys shoot me to death, then it gives me some little epilogue story that tells me to play Shores of Hell. Rubber Suit Guy tells me that I have to play it on a higher difficulty to progress, is that true? If so, should I just start out on nightmare to prevent wasting time by getting to somewhere where I can't progress?

I tried doing that a few times. It wasn't as hard as I thought it'd be to circle-strafe the bitch, but actually getting my punches to land was a whole different story.

By the way, if you're thinking about trying it out, keep in mind you're looking at about 400 hits before it goes down. Keep it in mind.

1. Yes.

2. I believe Hurt Me Plenty is the lowest level where you can go through the game start-to-finish.

Alright, I got it last night. You have to select "start new game" and select the episode. And ok I'll play it on Hurt Me Plenty.

This game is coooool!!!
