Sacré bleu!

Zis iz very, very bad. Mon friend showed zis to moi tonight and I am very displeased with monsieur Koji Kondo.

Ze song he ripped off from iz called "Cry Baby" by Quincy Jones off of ze album "Mellow Madness" in 1975. Here iz a zip of a clip from zis song, and a clip from ze Super Mario Bros 3 song slowed down to ze same tempo as zis song.

Keep in mind zat ze key for both songz are exactly ze same. Ze notez aren't all exactly ze same, but it'z close enough for moi. Apparently Quincy Jones waz very popular in Japan, which makez it very probable for it to be ripped off by greedy Japanese composerz.

Ze source for finding zis I do not know. I believe mon friend found zis on another forum. If he getz angry about credibilitiez, I'll put hiz name on here.

Je suis choqué.....

This is a pretty interesting find, if it is true. Who knows.

in my book... nothing wrong with having influences and/or paying tribute to some cool music, whatever the case it's still good music to me.

interesting comparison, though, it's cool finding stuff like this :P

"Tribute!?! You steal men's souls! Mankind ill needs a savior such as you!"

If tribute meanz taking credit for the work of otherz while making money and fame for yourself, zen so be it. But I am very disappointed. Listen to it over and over again and you'll see it.

oh no i definately hear it, it's pretty much the same exact song. all i'm saying is it's either a coincidence, or probably just having a little fun.

whatever the case may be, it's not like being a composer for an NES game really brings people much money and fame. people rarely know who these guys are...they weren't even appreciated back in the day.

first, i give you props for the SOTN reference...
second, i see NO reason to be dissapointed in the composer for smbIII.
--unless you prove that every song from the game was also a rip off of something else.
i mean, i can picture the guy being like, 'hey i've already written a dozen songs for this game...
and all i have to do is one more song that is like a 5 second pattern. oh i now, let me use that song i like..."
its really no biggie at all.
it is fucking sweet to find shit like this though. thanks!
third, typing out a fake accent, or real one for that matter, is kind of annoying. :D

I t'ink quite a many people know who he iz. Do a Google search and see for yourself. At least zey might not know him by name, but still recognize him as a person, and hiz many great accomplishments. Mario, Zelda, etc. Koji Kondo iz one of ze biggest video game composers zer iz. For a man of such high esteem to be caught in ze act of plagarism iz quite astonishing to moi.

At least zey might not know him by name

that's my point.

also, i'm sorry if it seems like i'm trying to star an argument, that's thotally not what i want to do. all i'm saying is my opinion, and i'm one of those "do it for the music" guys...so if i like what i hear it's good enough for me
