I guess we can look forward to Mike's solo record knowing that it won't suck as bad as Aaron's......

I don't mind marvelous clouds that much
and while its good int he fact he is using old folk songs to narrate personal struggle...you can hear it in the music that he is done with being weird
I think he wants to be straight and narrow for his remaining years

That Caesar Demos double album is becoming my favorite. Good - if not official - way to go out.

Hahah, Ashane's response as the second post just adds more credence to the in-joke.

Oh, you should be sure :)

Yeah Ween still rocks.

The Mollusk is great but it's a little to disparate for me. Like, none of the songs are bad, but when you listen to "Johnny on the Spot" into "Mutilated Lips", it just doesn't jive well with me. I think as an album, White Pepper is their best, even though more songs from The Mollusk are my favorite.

It's pretty easy to pass off their early stuff, but the more you listen to it, the more stuff starts to pop out.

hahaha

<edit> I just listened to all of the Mollusk, and for the first time ever did not feel like skipping any tracks because I wasn't "in the mood" for them.

I got kind of sad earlier when I realized what a half-assed swansong La Cucaracha is.

Don't get me wrong, there are some definite JEWELS on the record, but as a whole it's pretty middling.

The only album I have is The Mollusk, but I certainly enjoy it and every song on it.

Cold Blows the Wind does it for me every time, I love the way the vocals progress.

I've been listening to Chocolate & Cheese for about three years until I really listened to their other albums so Chocolate & Cheese seems like classic Ween to me. As I grew older and browner, I think Pure Guava is more classic. Here's my top list:

1. La Cucaracha
2. Mollusk
3. Chocolate & Cheese
4. Quebec
5. Pure Guava
6. White Pepper
7. GodWeenSatan
8/9/10. Shinola, Pod, 12 Golden Country Greats (because I haven't listened to these enough yet)

And I must emphasize that they're live interpretations are fucking solid, and to reiterate, yes, Claude is the best drummer ever.
