how long did you guys take to grow your hair out fully? i'm hoping to at least have it to ponytail length by magfest. i've done it once before, in 2000 (i looked like a girl, seriously), but it took a long time because my hair kept breaking, like 2 years to get to my shoulders. and half ended up in the shower drain, even if i was gentle when brushing. what should i do this time to help keep it from breaking.. conditioners? protein supplements? sacrifices to hsuan wen-hua, the chinese hair god?
any tips appreciated.

I washed my hair nearly every day, but I also used conditioner every day. It strengthened my hair and helped it stay nice and thick.
I suggest getting a micro trim every other month to get rid of split ends and to ensure that your hair grows out more evenly. The healthier your hair is from the root to the tip, the quicker it will grow, the more metal you will be and you won't turn out like a cute little chimp.

Since I haven't had any trims, it has grown kinda slowly really. It's near my nipples like the chap above, but it's taken about 4-5 years to get to this point. I grew mine out of laziness rather than notions of metal chic.
Hope that helps.

But I went back to the buzz, it's a lot more practical, but I may revisit the days of long hair again. Either way, grow a beard.

If nothing else, just sleep in Mayonnaise and all will be well.

I say go for it, man. It's the way of the Alpha-Male. I only once thought of cutting all of it off because of a job. But then I rehearsed with my band with my hair down, heavy headbanging, and then decided against the job. The though hasn't crossed my mind since.

They were aptly named.
But they had this one song "Hair is Queer"
It was a very melodic sing along of "Hair is Queer" repeated over and over, till the chuggy break-down section where "If you have hair--you're a queer!" was aggresively repeated.
Now I had nordic warrior hair at the time, but i still though it was hilarious.
