Bought a 5200 CIB from a co worker. had about 5 5200 games, 2600 adapter, 7 2600 games, loads of controllers, and 5 starpath games. I dont know much about starpath stuff. i dont have the adapter that allows you to play the games on the 2600. so as of now the tapes are just holding down a shelf..

Dragonstomper is by far the most heavy metal of the names. I was surprised to find out that Party Mix and Rabbit Transit were kind of rare. About 4 years ago, Rabbit Transit was going for about $300 (says some old forum archives). Now its at about $50.

When you get a Starpath Supercharger going, will you be able to plug it into the 2600 adapter on the 5200 to get some serious Teletraan 1 action going on?

Tidy little NES score from a friend today! She's moving and selling some stuff, so I figured I'd pitch in and help out.

-Two complete NES consoles, cables and all (+ one extra RF adapter)
-Four controllers
-Three zappers (all orange)
-One NESMAX turbo controller (not so great shape)

-Zelda
-Zelda II
-Final Fantasy (w/ manual)
-Kiwi Kraze
-Gauntlet (w/ manual)
-Wrecking Crew
-Bases Loaded 3
-Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt (two copies)
-NFL
-Super Mario Bros.
-Super Mario Bros. 3
-Wrath of the Black Manta
-Galaga: Demons of Death
-Blades of Steel
-Wheel of Fortune Family Edition

Paid $60 for the lot, both consoles & all games etc. Been looking for a NES for a while, but I was worrying about how I was gonna come across the first two Zeldas and Final Fantasy for anything less than super gougy pawn shop prices. Problem solved, and I got to help out a friend. :)

EDIT: Oh, and a bunch of assorted manuals too, most of them for various Atari 2600 games. Pretty fair condition too; it's cool and kind of surreal to look back into an era of gaming way before my time via the printed material.

That's pretty great. I see Blades of Steel listed. I'd love to play that again.

Honestly, I'm not too well-versed in the NES library of games... While I did own a NES as a child, it was always kind of secondary to the SNES when I was growing up and the only titles I really played at that age were the first two Zelda games, Mario 1-3, all that stuff (Oh, and a puzzle game we got with our semi-broken NES called Palamedes). Never did delve too much into what it had to offer, so it'll be good to finally check out some other titles. :) Is Blades of Steel good? I saw hockey on the cover and kind of subconsciously dismissed it as "sports game, ehh" -- not really fair, I know.

But yeah, If any of you folk have some recommendations for NES games I need to own, feel free to throw 'em out there. I hope to do the same thing with the Sega Master System one day when I can afford it, as again the only game I've played for that is the original Phantasy Star.

No, that's quite fair for most sports games. :P I haven't played it in many years, but when it was new, it was a ton of fun, especially in a party-type setting. I seem to remember it being much more fun than most hockey games at the time. (think Double Dribble versus other basketball games) It probably hasn't aged all that well, but definitely give it a whirl with a friend.

This is just kind of "off the cuff", but I'd venture to say that the NES era was much kinder to sports games, in that the majority of them were arcadey and fun.

Oh man, Kiwi Craze! Nice!

i cross'd a barrier into SCOOPvilLe yesterday and dunked with the best jammers and fresh dip ballers roundabout through an awesome bomb dunk party.

Lol. I suppose. However i dont plan on going out and paying full price for a starpath converter any time soon. If i find one on the cheap i'll pick it up though.

Yeah, there were quite a few good NES sports games. [Super] Tecmo Bowl (obv), the aforementioned Double Dribble and Blades of Steel, Ice Hockey, Baseball Simulator 1.000, Bases Loaded (at least 1 & 2 were good, I don't remember much about 3), Play Action Football, Super Spike V-Ball, Excitebike, Super Dodge Ball, Skate or Die 1 & 2... Of course there was plenty of jank, too, but I think it was about 89-90 when the market started getting flooded.

They're fun for people regardless of whether or not they are sports fans.

On Sunday, I went with my mom to the local mall. I stopped to chat with a buddy at Game City, and picked up Ys I & II Chronicles for PSP as well as Tales of the Abyss for PS2. Just starting on Ys I now. :)

Oh man... I bought a copy of Lufia II today.
Now, it wasn't a bargain; I had to pay a pretty steep price for it.
When I saw it, I thought to myself "Either I'm gonna have to pay a ridiculous price for this game or never own it ever."
The price doesn't really matter that much to me.
I'm just glad that I own it now and don't have to look for it anymore.
I was excited to play the first Lufia when I got it less than a year ago, and now I'm playing the... uh... sequel?
Wait, this takes place before Lufia & The Fortress of Doom.
Then why is it called... Lufia II...?
Whatever, I'm super-pumped for this!

On a bit of a side note, I also saw a copy of Earthbound for sale at the same store.
Not at all surprising, they wanted $199 for it.
Earthbound is another game I'd like to own one day, but I don't want it that badly.

If Earthbound ever hits a grand, I'm dumping that damn game on eBay, collection or no!

Sometimes, a game is just worth paying the going price for, Nuttz. Sounds like you might really enjoy it. Dare you to do the long dungeon! Get your money's worth.

God dammit, was just in my brother's shop and he has a bunch of games I want. He found Animal Crossing and Windwaker today at the flea market for like $3 a piece, but wouldn't let me have them at cost (was charging 10 and 25 respectively). He also has: Sim City for the SNES in Box, NBA Jams in box, Mario Paint in box, Ironsword in box, Tetris on the NES in box and several other games I want for various systems. He's not known for giving me deals, which is why I stopped buying shit for him when I see it. Just so you know I'm not completely off-base for wanting to get deals from him, I for years bought him records/figures/whatever else I knew he was into and would give them to him at cost or for fucking free. He has never returned the favor. I told him to give me Animal Crossing at least for my birthday next month. We'll see.
