It does appear to be the same font Dawn of Souls had, but even smaller.
They must have had to shrink it down a bit so they could fit all five characters in the command window.

The font, the engine, the Alligator, and many other things were swiped directly from DoS.
It appears that the game itself is FFIV as opposed to FFIV:Easy Mode, which is what we know as FFII.


PS: Who got the Pink Tail here? I don't remember who.

I got it once but only with the help of Alarm and save states

Edit: I just checked my saves state, I lied, I never got it. But I must've fought 97532997532953 puffs

I got it on an emulator with save states and fast forwarding. I know it's not as big of a deal as if I had gotten it on a console, but it was fun to play with. I allowed myself to get it that way guilt-free because I had beaten the game on a console a couple times already and was just having fun.

Well for people like me who like to be level 99 when they put the game down "it's a good thing"

I hope the added dungeons are similar to FF1 Dawn of Souls, the bosses in that were 100x harder than chaos, but some of the item drops were just retardedly overpowering, especially when you are already level 80 or so by the time you beat them all.

I didn't know the alarm trick (though I was playing FF4J-E.) I ran back and forth in the P room on fast forward fighting whatever I ran into.

heh have you played any of the dragon warrior games? lvl 99 seems inconceivable to me for certain games.. the dragon warrior games is one of those series where you spend countless hours in battle with maybe 1 level up to show for it... dw is hard for other stuff too though like monsters will almost always kick your ass no matter how powerful you are.. also money is hard to get too.. it's the only game where i would have to sell the armor i'm current wearing BEFORE buying something better at a shop...


aren't there games that make things/monsters/bosses harder if you're higher in level? i remember hearing/reading a rumor about FF7's Sephiroth being harder when you are lvl 99 but i can't find any real proof...

There's no way that can be true whatsoever.
They started level caps in FFVIII, actually, where as the boss's level depends on whatever level you are. But you probably knew that.

Damn Dragon Warrior VIII is gonna be so sweet.
