so, uh, i dont think i can coordinate an avengers manuever. whats the deal with breakfast/samurai/all about or some combination of those three? im seriously down to be out and about by like 730

If TS ends early enough, I might try to make Jesse James at Midnight.
I am down for trying Samurai at 7am, I just want to see if I can manage that on a Saturday. I figure, if I do make that, I'll see who else is open before All About, so I can get there in time for autographs. If none of the spots have open doors, I'll just grab a bite nearby--who has the best breakfast burrito near Camelback?

After that, where ever my lust for comics takes me...name a point, we'll ride!

I'd be down for Avengers in the afternoon ... but truthfully if no one else is jumping for it, I can wait a week just so the crowds die down a little.

Getting into Transmetropolitan in a big way. Really enjoying cyberpunk Hunter S. Thompson, mixed with the zaniness that was '90s "adult" comics.

Transmetropolitan is one of my favorite comics. It's the only thing I've ever seen correctly capture the visuals and the social implications of a transhumanist society (see the Moravec speech in "Boyfriend is a Virus" for a perfect illustration). Utterly brilliant on every level, and it gets even better (not to mention, surprisingly still relevant) once politics start getting involved.

It's weird, recently I've found that I really enjoy politics-heavy plots: Babylon 5, A Song of Ice and Fire, Transmetropolitan, Codex Alera, the Legend of the Five Rings RPG...

Transmetropolitan is on my "would love to read but who knows when I'll start" pile, along with The Invisibles. Both are sorta long and I know I will probably like them, but I've got a lot of other stuff I really want to get through in the moment. I'm sure I'll feel dumb and wonder why I didn't do it sooner when I finally do read them.

It was in that pile for me as well. But after losing all interest in the Ultimates universe (thank you very much, Ultimatum...), I knew it was time.

haha, it seems a lot of people jumped off after Ultimatum. that must have really ruined the universe.

i keep thinking i might be interested in the ultimate stuff, but that's even more of a backlog of shit to read and is still going.

and i still have a shitload of daredevil to read.

It doesn't just ruin it, it takes a sledge hammer and decimates it (with no real purpose for doing so).

the purpose was that sales were bottoming out, and UFF had absolutely no point for existing once mike carey left/stopped caring so they figured, 'FUCK IT, LETS GET SLOPPY'

I noticed the drop in quality the biggest with UFF. Honestly, that book never did any of the cosmic storylines that well. Ult. Spiderman was getting slightly weak towards the end. I felt that UXM stayed pretty constant, though, and enjoyed the slow Phoenix build.

yeah, which was saddening because pasqual ferry is an AMAZING artist and the tease of ULTIMATE THANOS was so tempting...but something about it just never fit together right
