I just finished Black Sunday by Thomas Harris.
(The man has only written 4 novels since the mid-1970's, and Black Sunday was the first one. The others in order are Red Dragon, The Silence of the Lambs, and Hannibal. With Black Sunday done, I'm starting on those.)


Black Sunday is about a plan to fly a bomb-laden blimp over the Super Bowl and explode it, killing 80,000+ people, possibly including the President. Then there's a terrorist hunter guy who has to figure out what the plot is and who is involved, which involves all sorts of detective work which is actually pretty interesting. There are setbacks on both sides (terrorists & good guys) which keeps you wondering how it's all going to end up. It's a pretty good read, and it helps somewhat if you know something about the terrorism scene from the mid-70's, mostly with the Israel and Palestine conflicts. The book moves at a pretty fast pace, it didn't feel tedious or "hack"ish at any point.

I just got done reading Slaughter House Five during a sloooow night at work. Great book about time travel (in a different way than youd think), aliens, and the war.

I just got done reading Guns, Germs and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies by Jared Diamond. It's an anthropological study about the rise of human societies all over the world and why some societies developed into ones with modern technology while others are still hunter-gatherers. The main question is: Why were Europeans the ones to come over and defeat the Native Americans and not the other way around?

It's pretty good but the dude is a bit too long-winded in his writing.

In between schoolwork, a book called Cinderella's Big Score: women of the punk and indie movement, by Maria Raha. Quite good.

I'm heading back through The Baroque Cycle by Neal Stephenson (for the second time). I'm almost done with Quicksilver. After that, once more through Cryptonomicon and then onto the Harry Potter books.

I just finished Nuklear Age by Brian Clevenger, pretty good. Before that, Red Dragon by Thomas Harris and [i]Fantastic Voyage[i] by Isaac Asimov, all good stuff.

I started that when I was hanging at my brother's place, and it really is quite good. Sadly I didn't have time to get past the first few chapters.

I'm in the middle of Quicksilver, been slacking on my reading a bit

I also picked up some Sanctuary books on a friend's reccommendation.. kinda cheesy fantasy, not so good. Soon I need to get the new Song of Ice and Fire book by George R.R. Martin.
