- Tobal No. 1
Saw this at a local used game place... is it worth to get? I'm scared a bit with the Dragonball GT style models. Dragonball GT is so much fail.

I think Power Stone 1 is a fighter, but 2 is a party game. I prefer 1.- Power Stone 1/2
If no one is going to argue this then Smash Bros. automatically is a fighting game.

Colin, Matsu, and I went to a Fat party where everyone was pretty fat and I went to get a beer and this fat girl sat between Colin and Matsu on the futon and she sank while they were boosted up.
That party also had Fat Kareshi and we were all excited so when we left I said "bye Fat Kareshi!!" and he was all like "huaghaughahhaha byeeeeeee"

i would recommend picking it up if it is under 10 bucks. it's got some good characters and an ok dungeon mode. the fighting is competent and kinda fun if you really get into it. i haven't played it in about 6-7 years now so my memory might be slightly jaded on how well it has held up.

legend of zelda is my favorite fighting game. Why does a fighting game have to be 1 on 1 hand-to-hand combat? I mean, there's more to fighting that just that... I guess this starts to blur the lines between fighters and beat-em-ups though.
Are rail shooters considered shmups? I mean they are essentially the same concept just different perspective...
</don't mean to derail this thread>

I'd have to say Street Fighter Alpha III. Super combos are awesome, but for the begginers, they can do custom combos, which is pretty sweet too. Oh, and Sakura is the new hotness. She's like kinda like Ryu and Ken... but not?this is the fighting game thread. it is a place to fight.
i want to discuss a million things here.
but let's start up with this: what's your favorite fighting game series (and better yet, the specific game that you think sums up the series), and why?
note that "Street Fighter" is not an acceptable answer, as you must specify such as SFII, Alpha, SFIII, etc.
GET READY FIGHTERS
TRIUMPH OR DIE
Don't forget about King Of Dragons or Knights of the Round...Why does a fighting game have to be 1 on 1 hand-to-hand combat? I mean, there's more to fighting that just that... I guess this starts to blur the lines between fighters and beat-em-ups though.
the biggest difference between fighters and beat 'em ups is that the latter has a bunch of weak enemies you fight in order to get to a powerful boss. obviously, most also have scrolling levels that one must traverse through. beat em' ups (especially in the arcade) almost never have blocking or a wide amount of special moves. Many beat 'em ups also are multi-planar, but only a handful of fighters allowed such play (Pit Fighter, Fatal Fury)
Fighting games jump straight to the boss fight, who you are on even terms with.
(while i'm on the subject, this is my favorite title for a beat 'em up: STREET HASSLE. it appears that it might be the original Bad Street Brawler.)
