i want to discuss a million things here.
but let's start up with this: what's your favorite fighting game series (and better yet, the specific game that you think sums up the series), and why?
note that "Street Fighter" is not an acceptable answer, as you must specify such as SFII, Alpha, SFIII, etc.

It's hard for me to play any Street Fighter other than the original II (and Hyper Turbo whatever).
I kind of don't play fighters anymore...I guess the last "real" one I got into was DoA4, and it was great for online matches.
No Rival Schools/Project Justice in the title? Another one of my all time favorites.

I think that the only way you're going to nail a 10 (or 11) girl is if you have millions of dollars, a non maniac mansion, a bichon frise with a bow on it's head, a yacht, and multiple fast cars! i'm so sorry :/

yeah, probably would have been better to work in than Power Instinct, but...

rival schools had no flying denture attacks.

King of the monsters? would that be acceptable as a fighter game? SNK made the game and i remember spending soooooo many quarters on this arcade gem at a local pizza place in early 90's
Mortal Kombat 2 was a huge hit, so big that i remember seein 10-12 people around 2 people playing mk2 for hours, hours, hours, and hours. Sometimes there will be someone who's won like 48 times in a row and no one will ever beat the winner so people just start walking away....till its empty...till the winner gets tired or bored then leaves. then the whole process happens again hahahahha but still the fatalities of MK2 were some of the most creative finishing moves ive seen in arcades during those 90s MK days, my fav character was Mileena
And others such as Primal Rage, Killer Instinct, Super Street Fighter II Turbo, and Pit Fighter.

Also, merc, why didn't you bring this up at PAX? I had a fighting game station all set up but nobody wanted to play me in anything.

because you were too busy uncovering nude vaginas from 1996 and being crude.
we even brought Capcom vs SNK 2. what a day!

Wasn't I playing 3rd Strike when you first came down?
oh. my son!
no.
but seriously, it's a shame we didn't get to play. however, i am also horrible at Third Strike.
anyway, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 is as only much of a button masher as you want it to be.

I actually really like the game. Dan and Wolf's stage music is really rad!

Itīs my favorite fighter ever.
To me, itīs still unmatched, because of the balance, ANY character is a potential GREAT character, as long you put time to learn its specifics.
Too bad most people only play shotokan and forget about the rest.
Close second would be Samurai Shodown (series as whole, II being my favorite) and SFA2.
SFAII is what SF2īCE is to that specific series, althrough SFA2 is not perfectly balanced as SF2īCE, imo.
