Seems like there will be an April/May release.

Hopefully this one is better than Ghost Reveries.

The Roundhouse Tapes are pretty good though.
The new guitarist seems to know what he's doing.

Man, I haven't listened to Opeth in way too long. Here's hoping it kicks ass.

Same here, Ghost Reveries never really caught on with me, I should listen to it again tho.

All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.

I liked the Ghost Reveries. Musically not their strongest but Mikael was definitely on top of game vocally. His clean vocals had more range and his growls had more power. It's going to be interesting how they sound with Fredrik Åkesson on guitars and Martin Axenrot on drums. I know they're very capable musicians, just curious how the music is going to come out.

Some of Ghost Reveries is really good, but it isn't quite as solid start to finish as their previous works.

I'm looking forward to new Opeth.

The only songs I was really attached to on Ghost Reveries were Ghost of Perdition and Beneath the Mire (because of the solo at 4:13. Gooood stuffs.)

The clean part in Baying of the Hounds slays me, the intro of Beneath the Mire is badass.
The title track where he says "We are, the trees", oh man that part I love.
Whatever the name of that clean song (the one that isn't stonerfest), is amazing except the intro is boring.

Well, I'm of the opinion that more Opeth is good. Even it isn't blowing you away, it's still pretty damn good.

Bifecta to all of this. When I revisited this album, I really enjoyed it.

I am really hoping the new material has a similar balance as Blackwater Park; the ratio of aggression/introspection and catchy hooks/extended passages made it my favorite, but I do agree that Opeth doesn't put out bad albums, some are just better than others.

I also think that an album with mostly clean vox would be really amazing (and i'm not referring to Damnation here), since I love Mikael's clean voice.

I hope it's better than Ghost Reveries. I had about three listens of that album and decided to not buy it or listen to it again. Deliverance and Damnation weren't that much better, but they were both definitely more listenable.
