Sure, there are plenty of systems more overlooked than these, but I think this family deserves more credit than it gets. I'm planning to buy a Turbo Duo when I can get one for the right price. A lot of it is about the graphics and the colors, for me personally.

TG-16 games I like:

Neutopia II
Splatterhouse
Pomping World
Blazing Lasers
Bonk's Adventure

TG-CD:

Lords of Thunder - this is one of the best shooters (1p) that I've ever seen. Amazing CD audio soundtrack.

I've only just gotten some TGCD roms for the first time. Definitely gotta find what the good shit is. Let's go with some recommendations.

I'm interested in checking out some Turbo Grafx 16 stuff, but I don't have any room for any more systems right now, and I haven't had much success with emulation (the "best" emulator I could find you have to pay a license to use, and seriously, fuck that). But anyway, it seems like it had a pretty cool library of games. To be honest, I never even heard of the system until a couple of years ago. I attribute this to growing up in Anchorage, where I'm fairly sure that the only video game system anyone owned back then was the NES. Hell, I'd never even heard of the Sega Master System until 1998, if that says anything. How popular was the Turbo Grafx stuff throughout the rest of America?

WizWars - find a copy of Magic Engine. It's easily the choice for PCE emulation.

And somebody, for the love of God, check out Lords of Thunder.

That's the one that costs to register. From their website:

"The demo is limited in time, everything is fully fonctionnal, but after 5 minutes the game you are playing will be frozen. You can reset it to start again or you can load another game, but you can not play to a game more than 5 minutes."

Fuck that. I'm sure I could find it for free somewhere, but I'm not up on shit like that anymore so I don't really know where. I just don't think it's cool to have to pay for emulation. A quick search on Ebay and I found actual TurboGrafx16 systems that cost less than it would to register that friggin' program.

I just played Time Cruise, which is another pinball game for TG16. It's straight up badass. Games last for a while, and it's got some killer bonus level mini-game type shit.

WizWars - check any of your favorite torrent trackers. Isohunt and Demonoid confirmed.

Turbo CDs and Duos are so hard to find. i've never seen one in person, except at shitty overpriced game stores

i still have hopes about finding one in the wild

there are a bunch of Turbo CD "roms" on my computer, so let me know if you ever need a hookup

- Castlevania: Rondo of Blood (CD)
- Exile (CD)
- Neutopia (the 1st one)
- Ninja Spirit
- Parasol Stars: The Story of Bubble Bobble III
- Valis: The Legend of a Fantasm Soldier (CD)
- Valis III (CD)

I don't have many TG games. :(

EDIT: I got my Duo new from www.tzd.com for $200 brand new maybe 6 years ago. Expensive, yes, but it was awesome getting an old system still brand new.

I just watched a TG16 Splatterhouse speed run last night. It was awesome. That game fucking scares me, even just watching it.

sometimes i think i'm the only person who prefers the Sega CD version's music. you should at least get it and compare

there's some good discussion here also
