ducatis are super, super nice. i ride one of these:

it's a brand new tomos nitro 50cc (well, on the papers here it's 49 cc), and it's pretty awesome.

i've owned it for about a month, and i went into buying it with zero motorcycle or scooter driving experience, and it's the easiest thing ever to drive. i just wish it went faster!

it makes me want to buy a motorcycle next but my scooter costs me around $200 per year to insure (as it's classed as a moped), and if i were to even go up to something like a 70 or 100 cc motorcycle, it would be like, $3000+ per year to insure!

also, 70 miles on less than one gallon of gas?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!

Yeah Dennis, if I recall correctly, they have to stop at 49.9cc to make it fall in the "Scooter" category. If you go 50 or more, if I recall , you need a full motorcycle driving course and succeed and get your papers and stuff. Which is why we only see 49s.

That's from my knowledge and how it is in Quebec though.

well then, quebec and manitoba are pretty much the same then :D

it's hilarious though how scooters require no safety check like other vehicles (cars, trucks, motorcycles, etc)

Hilarious but pretty alarming. I mean , you can practically sell ANY scooter to go on the road with the "basic equipment" , meaning mirrors, EPA approval engine and stuff like that. Nothing else is checked.

In Ohio, only commercial vehicles get safety checks.

Yeah, much of the sportbike world got real trashy in the late '90s with Ruff Ryders, Starboyz and all that, and hasn't recovered very well. It's typical of the de-classing of overall U.S. society that has gone on since then.

yeah i dunno, most of the riders i know aren't into racing dangerously per-say. gutsy here and there but i definitely wouldn't' think it bad. And i think its pretty good considering most of the riders i know are younger around my age.

I ride a Buell Blast

I also have a Yamaha TTR125 that has been collecting dust in my garage, I haven't ridden it in over a year now. Bad back and I kept throwing it out while I was riding (and bowling!) Decided to hold off on rough ridin' while I get my back repaired.

Yeah, sadly a lot of the people who ride sport bikes are like this. But not all. There are some very courteous motorcycle drivers who ride just for transportation, and because they like it I guess. Not because they think it makes them look cool and gives them the right to act like an asshole on the road.

It's funny though, most bike (bicycle) riders and vespa / scooter drivers also have absolutely no courtesy to people driving cars. What is it about two wheels that makes people think they can get away with acting like a dousche?

same reason people people think that just cause they have expensive cars they can drive like a douche. same to goes for POS cars. "meh, it already has a dent in it..."

honestly its really just the person being a douche period.
