I'll take a necro-bump of good, fun posts like this rather than yet another penis thread.

Norrin, your league sounds fucking outrageous! We're gonna play kickball in school as a competition between cohorts, I gotta say I'm excited but nervous about it since I haven't played kickball since...6th grade? I know I'll take a giant kick and miss and pull my groin or something. In the same spirit, I'm sure I'd break myself in dodgeball, but I'd love to play it again!

Heh, a team of mostly tiny girls wearing knee pads with a team name that's an anagram of stunning cunts only begs for the obvious observation to be made.

They were definitely hotties as well. Didn't help anything. They have the perfect strategy to fluster a group of computer nerds. Did I mention they all had super tight tiny spandex shorts on?, with pink knee high stockings? It was insane to get destroyed by a team half full of girls like that. They were also playing with a stupid amount of stategy and no look throws, it was maddening. I just wanted to take their captain, the smallest girl on the team, out once. But every time you throw at her, no matter how hard, she was catching... Bizzare to have the most menacing opponent be a 4'11 Iranian girl with braces and short shorts....

Kickball is the fucking best!! The camp I work at over the summer has an annual kickball game between the other camp in our district and its always immensely heated. Everyone gets into it and it is a ton of fun. Our camp is the underdog most years, we have only won 2 out of 7 games (I think that's right). Kicked major ass this year though winning 24-9. I think we had a total of 9 homeruns. Just get your knee over the ball and pound it with the laces!!!

Maybe I'd like it now...?

Its great when there are people on your team who actually know how to catch and throw the ball. That was my problem with it as a kid, everything was so far away and hurling a kick ball is a lot harder than throwing a baseball around the diamond. Its really good fun now that I'm older though. </thread cap>

I destroyed at Dodgeball tonight. One game I think I may have got 5/6 of their team out with both throws and catches. Man, as far as sports go, nothing can compare to absolutely destroying another player with a perfect throw. The sound it makes when it thuds is orgasmic. A close second is the feeling of catching a good player's throw. The way some of these dudes can throw, it is a miracle of nature sometimes, but the reward is simply staggering.

Playoffs are on Saturday. We are ranked pretty low in the league, but we will definitely put up our best fight. We are finally adjusting to the smaller court sizes in this league, and now that I am getting a little better at catching, and game awareness, I am ready to annihilate!

Dodegball update!

I play in the Vancouver Dodgeball League (VDL) and the Coquitlam Dodgeball League (CDL) now, which works out to 2 nights of crazy dodgeball a week. Currently both seasons are in their off-season, so there has been drop-in dodgeball nights at a recreational centre in the city of Coquitlam where everyone who shows up just plays on a random team.

Tonight, at a drop in, I asked the hardest thrower in the league if I could warm up on a couple of his shots before the games started, instead of my usual casual warm up with a friend.

Some of this guys shots were so fast that I couldn't tell where the ball was until it hit the wall behind me with a crack that would actually hurt my ears. It was awesome though, because with every throw, it was getting easier to see the ball coming, and even predict where it would land. I started noticing when he was changing his grip on the ball for curve balls, and began to duck right for the catch. At one point, I actually thought of Dragonball Z, when Gohan couldn't see the fight because they were moving too fast.

I only managed to catch about 20% of the throws he levelled me with, but it got me in peak condition for the rest of the night. Any throws after this warm up seemed to be moving in slow motion! I swear I had the best night of dodgeball in my life tonight. There were at least 2 games where I made 4 catches to bring out team back to win what looked like a lost cause.

I guess that's all I have to say for now, until the seasons start up again. I'll try to get some video of some games this season!

My Vancouver team for this season: !dodge.equals(PWNED);

We're all team full of nerds. Most of us took Computer systems technology as BCIT. But we're still a tier A powerhouse.

LOVE the name Norrin. Best of luck to your team!

I keep missing out on the dodgeball tournaments at school. Every time they have one my Ultimate Frisbee team has a tournament and that's definitely got a higher priority.

Had our Season 7 tournament in the CDL yesterday. My team got raped, so I filmed a bunch of the rest. Here are two of the finer Tier A matches.

*double click them so you can see them in 30fps*

There are 35 videos total if you feel like checking out the rest.

School league dodgeball is pretty awesome. The rules and the dedication of team mates are sometimes a little iffy, but nothing can relieve the stress of school (especially come midterms or finals) better than crushing someone in dodgeball.

The bigger Dodgeball league I play in, the VDL, had their playoffs yesterday. We did ok in Tier B, but got knocked out in the Quarter Finals.

However, that let me take some vid of the Tier A Finals... My goodness. That's the highest level dodgeball I've ever seen.

Let me break down a little of what is going on here. In the VDL, you have 10 seconds to throw the ball after you've touched it with any part of your body. Feet included. At the end of the 10 count, your ball is considered dead and it must be rolled to the other team. If you try to block with a "dead ball" you will still be out. This is a way to force the game to proceed at a high pace without the usual standing around waiting for people to throw.

Ball control is one of the key factors to winning a game. If your team has all the balls, you can make more throws. When you play against teams like these, you need to throw together at certain players.

In order to maintain ball control, you'll see certain players throwing at empty wall space in order to get their own rebound and reset their own timer. If your team has more balls\players on the court, this is an easy way to force the other team to throw their ball. You can just keep resetting your ball until they have to throw, and then you will have all the balls.

Also, you may notice female players standing in front of certain male players on their team. This is actually a brilliant strategy. These girls are phenomenal catchers, so they protect the game changing male players by standing in front of them and going for the catch no matter what. If it hits them, then at least the male survived the barrage and can hopefully turn the tides.

When there is only 1 player left on both sides, there is a 10 second count down before both player go to a "showdown". This is where they get 2 balls each, and there is no more centre line.

New team name and jerseys for this season. We are not going to settle for anything less than total domination. Hooray for Russian themes! I swear I can not get the USSR theme from Super Dodgeball out of my head.

If only I could throw the ball so fast it turned invisible. On a related note, I made some extra jerseys, one of which has the name "Boris" on the back. A delightful nod to SDB.
