On the 14th of August I started a bike trip, I rode the bus to Vancouver BC with my bike and then biked across Washington on my very own Oregon Trail crossing the paths of settlers and Lewis and Clark, lived up to my name fairly often and ultimately hung out week with the super Liss bros and then returned, hung out with Xmark, and took a bus home which brings me too this afternoon. I feel one of the central themes of this trip was 'wear it out' and I'm currently feeling that. I have experienced a lot, had an immense amount of fun and I feel that I've learned and evolved, like not in the genetic sense but as in personal growth nah mean?

I'm gonna start with a few pics, my mind is totally worn out and over saturated, I feel fantastic and manic and I'll have to piece this thread together over a little bit, a lot took place over 1400+ kms and two weeks.

Oh and if you didn't like Easy Rider, you should probably GTFO.

Dan after a day of wearing it out, note the watermelon Loko, it's truly the new sparks, we consumed mass quantities of it, and well mass quantities of many things. We did it TEXAS style.

This picture doesn't show us at our best but it pretty much captures us in a greazy moment, Dans face has been 'fitclubbed' and my face was only about 18 hours from getting the same treatment. Note the color of my biker jacket? That's FUCKING NEON SALMON, don't forget it.

You'd best adjust your monitor because I know Chorange and I know Salmon by taste and site!

It's some bums fighting over a 40 of Olde English in the park, not the one we got banned from though.

This is a LAMP SHADE store, if you ever feel like buying your own lamp shades here's the place, it's right near a place where you can get a mound of fries surrounded by a halo of GIANT burger iirc. That might also be the freak power salute, who knows?

I'm a pretty big fan of trees and they are numerous and awesome in Portland, we hit up the arboretum and had some awesome dirty dark downhill rides after stumbling our way out it felt like a pretty magic place. This is not the arboretum.

Here are some awesome but heavily pruned park trees that were quite difficult to get into but we tried some teamwork with mixed results.

We didn't really get that many pictures of the trip, I got a few left to unleash and maybe make an animated gif, but this trip is logged mostly within our minds.
I'd love to discuss biking and hoboing and travelling and busch craft and life skills to pay the bills in this thread at great length.

I came up with the idea of this trip only about a week or two before it happened and was incredibly busy helping out with someones wedding and filling in as a DJ on short notice leaving me about 36 hours to prepare. There were many unexpected problems and hurdles but we rose above all the shit and had some fantastic times. The first day I left Xmarks in the afternoon and barely got to Bellingham because my shit wasn't really together since I don't have experience with this but I learned and evolved pretty fast as my body mind and gear went through a rigorous 3 day shakedown. House had some helpful biking tips from his experiences and I was learning even on the way back though my ride back was easier faster and comfier since I'd already learned.

I read that some british scientist put cameras or sensors or some shit on his bike and rode around, with a helmet, without a helmet, and in drag. He found that motorists are much more likely to hit you when you're wearing a helmet and he was even involved in a couple accidents, motorists tend to be more cautious and give more room around unhelmeted bikers and "female" bikers haha.

Course, not wearing a helmet is stupid, statistics are usually bullshit but your head is pretty fragile. Wear a helmet and remember that people in cars and trucks are trying to kill you.

And heres a little tidbit on bike safety from some time ago, protect your melon when you're drinking melon four and riding dirty, I made a bad choose and got blood on the tracks and I'm glad I had a helmet on. I think I need a bell for my bike too, everyone should have one, it makes passing cyclists and pedestrians way safer as well as being useful for corners.

I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised at how people drove in Washington and especially in Portland and I think I deal with more bullshit in my hometown because these F350 driving redneck fucktards don't understand what it means to share the road. Washington drivers however need to learn to stop throwing garbage out of their windows, holy crap did this ever drive me nuts, you see garbage and adopt a highway signs everywhere, wouldn't it just be easier to not roll down your window and then not throw your filth out?

moar later I feel asleep.

these pictures don't do that week justice. you kinda had to be there. but yeah, we can safely say that "wear it out" is a worthy addition to the shizz commandments, ala "do it live". had an amazing time with you here armor. good to see you again this year! magfest will be the ultimate dance party extreme.

looks like an epic time. i would love to do something like this around here. there are plenty of back roads and weird out of the way places to be able to keep "off the grid" but still be close enough to recharge at some gas station in the middle of nowhere.

Edit: I'm really interested in the details of your "planning". Like, what you brought along, what you did for food, shelter, bathroom, etc... There should probably be a standard itinerary of bike survival.
