(Well, two mixes.)

When I discovered T-Square not long ago via this here Shizz, I was fascinated-but-overwhelmed by their sheer mountain range of a discography. After a while, I decided to set about making something that I wish had been available to me at that moment of T-Square brain impregnation.

It took me about a week to whittle my 4-hour T-Square "hits" mix (culled from earnestly listening to about 20 albums since PoD made the T-Square download page on bossies.org) down to something that could fit onto one cd-r. I finished it last night, and this is the result.

I did try to cater this somewhat to a certain aesthetic among non-Shizzie friends of mine around here whom I've sprinkled this upon in burned cd-r form today, so it's by no means supposed to be representative of the totality of T-Square. That said, I do think it's a solid conglomeration of some of their most outstanding and unique gemstones, spanning a few different eras and decades.

Here are the alternates; it's not so much a "B-List" because in my mind, any of these songs are equally as boomblasting as the ones that made the main, condensed mix, but perhaps with different feels from what I was going with there.

Appreciate.

I'm gonna spread these jams like pliant thighs and digest it all like crunchy tacos supreme.

first of all, funky fm music just really does it for me.  Even if it's something corny like early mariah carey I can get way into the music with the fm bass and keys going on.   Then, there's everything else in this song.  The enigmatic title.  The synth programming brings out all the right emotional responses in me:  leads that remind me of thunderforce (even if the portamento isn't quite as exaggerated), chording synths that remind me of very old and charming genesis osts like super monaco (except somehow they don't sound as flimsy here), and of course a solid bass.  Great original motifs, interesting harmonies, good melody, rhythm.. everything that can make a song great is here!

^Three slammin' Shizzies right there who I know already have T-Square rainbow cells flowing into and through their vital organs. :) I'm glad you guys are enjoying this. When I really started digging in and getting serious about listening, I found that T-Square didn't appear to have a lot of really solid-majesty-all-the-live-long-day-through albums. Everytime I listen through just these songs, I hear new things and textures and glory that I hadn't perceived before. I expect this trend to continue long into the night of life.

Hell yeah, nice. I remember you putting this into the appreciation thread, but I couldn't dig in because I am rockin' Macstyle. Something like that would probably come in handy for discovering an under-appreciated of-the-moment adventure; realistically, my mixes represent cherry picking from only about 70% of the catalogue.

I've found that I get more into T-Square's uber-melodic, rhythmically straightforward stuff/rock-esque material, but that's just me and that only represents about half of their catalogue, it seems.

Ergh.

I wanted this mix to have a certain flow, but I realized that I forgot to tag the songs with proper track numbers. I know it probably seems anal to have done this, but it was important to me to really make a true partyblower mix in the spirit of 424, so I've tagged the songs and re-zipped/re-upped the file so the songs are in the proper order. Get it here if you're interested (I've also updated the first post).

1. Omens of Love
2. Chase
3. Barbarian
4. Hawaii e Ikitai
5. A Feel Deep Inside
6. It's Happening Again
7. Hello Goodbye
8. Anchor's Shuffle
9. Itoshi no Unaji
10. High Time
11. Rockoon
12. Love's Still Burning
13. Stiff Nails
14. Victory
15. Prime
16. Overhead Kick
17. Wandering Soldier

I appreciate this and will probably load it on my phone in lieu of actually finding a mix of T-Square on my own.

I like to think of it as if we're all boats in the ocean that is T-Square.

Also, this mix rocks hard. I always have a hard time listening to new albums without having some previous knowledge to start with. Thanks!
