Reminds of the Castle/World of Illusion games on the Genesis.

Makes me excited for this to come out!

Mig is hell of swell and got me Kid Icarus for my bday. I played through the first two levels and man I'm loving it so far. The way the story is told, through game play instead of cutscenes is perfect. Let's face it, it's not like the story is gonna be really great, so even if I don't catch everything that's said it's not a huge deal. But getting clued in while playing the game adds some degree of replay value. The banter is silly but made me smile. The Intensity system seems pretty neat, as already I noticed in the first level that there's a hidden something if you are at a 5. Treasure? Hidden path? I know not. I also know it is unlikely that I'll find out, but that's fine. Although I don't entirely know how that system works, so maybe there's hope for me yet. The weapons system from what little I've experienced is way more in depth than I expected. But it's still simple enough that it's not a little micromanagement system within the game. The first two levels have been beautiful and cinematic. The length seems just my pace as it they didn't wear me down or leave me wanting more. Oh yeah I played through half the first level and thought the game was looking great. Then I realized the 3D slider was down. WOOOAH.

There are a few gripes of course. I wish I could try forged weapons out before committing to them (unless I'm missing something?). And of course, the controls. It wasn't as bad as I expected, and I used the stand. Even resting the stand on my leg seemed ok. It does make it hard to use the 3D though, and I ended up turning it down halfway. Maybe on a desk or something it will work better. The negatives aren't enough to kill the positives though.

I love Kid Icarus. I think I'm almost done with it, but it's so fun, and I also love the story presentation. Almost no cutscenes! It's great! It might be the only Nintendo game I love that has totally awkward controls, but yea, the stand helps, and makes me feel oddly classy while playing.

I'm picking up Super Mario Land and Kid Icarus tonight. That should resurrect my dormant 3DS

I picked up Tales of the Abyss today. Spent about 3 hours with it, I like it so far, just not a big fan of Luke so far.

I will probably pick up Kid Icarus soon, maybe tomorrow even.
How important is this board?

Only played the first level of Kid Icarus last night. Looks great, controls will need some getting used to.
I wish it could have the option to use the CPP for dual joystick.
I bought it used, so no stand. The only way I could find to play it was to lay down on my back and rest it on my stomach.

I'll probably play more of it once I get through Mario Land.

I beat Kid Icarus: Uprising about a week ago.
I'm "done with it" for now, but I still find myself thinking about the game.
The one thing that really stands out in my mind is that while it is a very well made game, it isn't really the sequel I had been hoping for over the years.
If only they had made a sequel years before... say if Kid Icarus had followed in Metroid's footsteps and we'd now be singing the praises of "Super Kid Icarus".

I really want to like Kid Icarus, but I just can't.
I like the music, love how they incorporate the story, graphics look nice.
Controls are bothersome, even after 6 or so story missions. Really wish I could have used the CPP to make it more of a twin-stick shooter. That would have greatly increased my enjoyment. Oh well, can't like every game out there...
