In the 4th grade I asked a girl for her phone number. She wasn't very pretty, but we were kind of friends and I just asked impulsively. I didn't really know what I was doing (like I had no concept of sex yet or anything), but I knew it wasn't the same as trying to be normal friends with a boy. She said no :(

EDIT: that probably scarred me for life ;)

okay, i thought it was about time i posted my own little story. get ready, because this is dumb.

around fifth grade, Yoshi was kind of a cool thing around the classroom. well, at least among a few people, one of which i had a dire crush on.

now, to be frank, it was the kind of crush born out of hating someone so much that you can't help but have it eventually flip around back into love. a rare breed, for sure. she was my academic rival. everything i could do, she could do just a littttttttle bit better. in addition, she was gorgeous. she was a ballet dancer (her mom owned the studio). she was on the cover of one of our local phone books. as someone who spent a lot of elementary and half of middle school as someone striving to be a golden boy, this killed me. i suppose you could say we had sort of a friendly rivalry, even if it wasn't acted out as such.

but she was so perfect, i couldn't even get people to believe at our fifth grade mock Pilgrim Thanksgiving that she farted. i realize that is horribly immature to even bring up, but it happened, and the people around her knew it happened, but the chance of such a thing even happening seemed too remote for an academic PLUS beauty goddess like her.

but like i said, i could not help but fall in crush with her.

the crush got my creative juices going. although i was a terrible colored pencil artist (still am!), i could use it to make a 'zine starring Yoshi. because i liked her, and she liked Yoshi.

i ended up making 5 issues total of the 'zine, titled "Yoshi Illustrated," before it was the end of the fifth grade year. sadly, all are lost to history, but they did feature such things as a pull-out poster in most (one was of Yoshi in planes vs King Kong), interviews, adorable Yoshi centerfolds (i had just found a Playboy in my Dad's garage, inspiration?), comics, and so much more.

needless to say, it got me to "footsie" base.

she started going to college in roughly tenth grade. TODAY UPDATE: she recently dropped out of beauty school.

i think that still puts her ahead of me.

Wow, dude, that's nuts.

How do people keep up with kids they knew in Grade School? I have no fucking idea where ANYONE is.

I am - truly - ...alone in this world.

I agree with Mustin, i don't know where anyone from grade school or high-school (with the exception of 2 dudes i still have contact with), quite honestly, i don't give a rat's ass to where they could be, or what they are doing.

And.. i don't have any nerd love story. Pretty much everybody i always knew in school (100% of the girls) thought "video-games and computers are for nerds, i hate that". So, i was kinda lonely in that area.

BUT, i did hook up with a chick because we were both into KISS (the band). In fact she first saw me, in the line of a KISS concert, back in.. 1999, i think. We ended going out for a couple of months, then i dumped her for being too needy. (i was... 16? and i needed my space (and room for more girls in my life).

That's it.

Man that story is kinda awesome and sad. No luck finding the dude? Too common a name or what? I keep wondering if he got over his wanting to kill himself and pulled through.

I have two vague nerd love storys

In 3rd grade there was a girl I had a crush on, I can't remember her name and thinking back I don't know what I liked about her, she had short hair, big glasses and wasn't cute, but I've always had a thing for glasses as far back as I can remember. Anyway we would play together like every day in 3rd grade. Sometimes I would bring all my ninja turtles toys to school and we would play with them, or I would bring comic books and we would sit and read them. Sometime we would actually roleplay stuff from video games like I was mario and she was the princess and I would save her from the castle {the jungle gym}. Eventually it got to be so much fun that other kids started joining in, pretending to be other characters from video games and stuff. We even had one kid who would spend his time in class drawing us items in his binder like mushrooms and fire flowers and extra lives and he was like toad, giving out items to the players. After other people started joining in she stopped liking it as much and eventually just stopped talking to me or coming to that part of the playground. Oh well, young love is fleeting

The other is actually when I was about 22. I had a party and this cool hippie, dreadlock girl who was friends with a friend of mine came over. We got trashed and it got late, we were talking about random shit and video games came up, she started talking about how much she used to love mario and I mentioned I had it so she made me play it with her. We stayed up like ALL night playing the game, having an awesome time, laughing and cuddling. I didn't want to beat the game for her cause it would be done too soon so I took it easy and let her play alot of it. Anyway after we finally beat it, and I was like ok, this is it time to make the move, but I must have missed the mark because she just up and bailed and went to sleep, then the next morning when everyone was stumbling back to life, I heard her talking to my friend saying "i really wanted to get laid last night" ...apparently I'm just a fucking idiot

Although life has taken me down roads far away from my HS days, I still try to track him down but have thus far been unsuccessful. Although I am happily married, I, myself, often wonder where life took him. He was a huge part of my life while he was in it and I hate that this is one of few strong ties I have made in my life that I no longer have any sort of attachment to today. I will share more later but wanted to pop in and say hey and I'm glad my (our) story has reached some on some level(s). If anyone is still wondering, I am the "girl" in the original story of this thread...
