I really don't like taking on companions because it doesn't fit with the type of character I'm playing. Also, the first couple
of hours of the game I was dedicated to reading every book that came my way. Abandoned that shortly, as I would never be able
to finish the game.
Edit: Freaking work... Doesn't it know I just want to stay home and play Skyrim?

copying from what i said in an irc
[21:15] <+Paragon> i went the wrong direction and DRAGON then somehow right near the dragon awoke a skeleton wizard who was stronger than the dragon
[21:15] <+Paragon> it was a fucking epic battle
[21:16] <+Paragon> we were pushed to the edge of a cliff and the skeleton wizard fell off
[21:16] <+Paragon> and i tried to plink him off with magic from above, but he blasted me and i lost my balance and fell down too
[21:16] <+Paragon> then we battled on the steepest cliff in all the land
[21:16] <+Paragon> and i chased his torso down the mountain to collect the spoils
NICE, I couldn't beat that dude, what was his name Kerosis or something? I slew the dragon after a buttload of healing potions though.Left my dragon bones there, shit, need to go pick them up.
Definitely enjoying this game. My poor companion Lydia got reamed by some mages. RIP. Just got the Skull of Corruption, the quest to get it was pretty fun, had a cool device in it.
Ice troll kicked my ass.
Wolf genocide, I love how there aren't 38250325023 creatures out to kill you in the wilds (so far) but at the same time yearn for more fauna. Perhaps its the area I'm in? I forget all of my game stats right now, haven't played for too long but I'm level 9 or 10, destruction and one handed being my faves. Dabbled in some enchanting, alchemy, and smithing, but I fear the latter will be very pointless as past ES games taught me the best shit is found or enchanted thereafter.
I still have issues casting and fighting properly, I seem to only be able to either cast spells or melee...it's not the game, I don't think so at least, but rather my inability to multitask and process properly.
The dark brotherhood are after me, also doing a psuedo-DB quest for some kid who wants some sadistic bitch slain, it's alllllll the way in the lower right corner, long way to meander!
I've chopped wood and mined ore, made cabbage stew and eaten poisonous mushroom, and set countless people and creatures on fire, hehe.
I need to find some more powerful spells though, especially the continuous damage ones like Sparks (sparks!!) or Flames, I've also been having difficulty finding places to work on my pelts and smith shit outside of...the first town you get to.

I haven't started that quest but have met the bitch that he wants dead. She's a monster running an orphanage. I wanted to kill her on the spot but didn't want to get a bounty put on my head.

The kid's story was surprisingly effective at making me care for him...I thought it was well-written and voiced, so that bitch is next on my list.

I was wondering about this at first, so I switched to Master difficulty early on and have been playing that way ever since. Much more challenging and rewarding.Right now I've got the difficulty on medium, and it leaves me wondering: are the NPCs weak in this game, or is casting overpowered? If I 2-hand the charge up fireball it kills most enemies I encounter in one hit.
I have yet to fight a dragon on my own, but as I was out wandering in the middle of nowhere by myself, one comes along and starts flying in circles above me, letting out screeches and being all intimidating. It wouldn't come down and fight though. Just kept circling above me and making me all nervous. I kept trying to hit it with my arrows, but it kept dodging and eventually flew off into some ruins in a nearby mountain. I thought I was dragon food for sure.

tangibly-rewarding or satisfaction-rewarding? If it's the former then I may need to change...I was wondering about this at first, so I switched to Master difficulty early on and have been playing that way ever since. I'm also much more cautious about entering dungeons way out in the middle of nowhere. Often times, I don't even finish a dungeon because I'm taking such a beating, but I love it and tell myself that I'll come back and destroy everything when I'm leveled up a bit more.

I don't know about tangible (probably not), but definitely more satisfying. I want to get my butt handed to me now and again, so that I'm forced to re-strategize and be more creative when I'm fighting. So far, it's really paid off in that regard, plus I take random encounters much more seriously than I would otherwise.

You and I, we think alike
How do you deal with fighting mages? When they pour out a constant damage spell I basically bullcharge them and hope that I kill them first, trying to outrun them doesn't seem to work quite well

I've gotten really good with dual-handed frost, plus I have a perk on that (I eventually want to be a master frost mage). I blast my opponents with it and they lose a huge chunk of stamina right away, so that way they can't chase me. I then sprint out of the way of their magic (about 10 feet away or whatever), pull out my bow and start shooting poison arrows at them until they keel over. If that doesn't work for whatever reason, I pull out a two-handed axe, run up to their face, hold down the attack button for the one hit kill which uses all my stamina. When that sucker comes down on their heads, it's devastating, though it may be because I leveled up my two-handed weaponry skills a bit as well. In between, I'm also taking magicka regeneration potions if I have them and casting healing on myself in between exchanging blows. I've probably done other things as well (like dragon shouts, fury spell, etc.) to help myself out, but that's what I usually think to do.How do you deal with fighting mages? I'm finding that I don't really have the ability to craft a good strategy because there's only so much that's effective, combat-wise, but I'm probably horribly wrong. Blocking fire with a metal shield is about as bad an idea as you would imagine
Basically, I try to attack them and attack HARD before they attack me.

lol, I'm horrible at sneaking. Even when I think I'm being sneaky, oftentimes someone sees me.
I can't wait to get the pickpocket perk where I can steal equipped weapons and clothing. I'm going to ransack a town so everybody is just in their underwear (although nude mods appeared about four minutes after the game was released).
