lol, I'm horrible at sneaking. Even when I think I'm being sneaky, oftentimes someone sees me.

I can't wait to get the pickpocket perk where I can steal equipped weapons and clothing. I'm going to ransack a town so everybody is just in their underwear (although nude mods appeared about four minutes after the game was released).

So awesome! I haven't done any pick pocketing, usually because it still ends up with someone catching you. At least, it has in other games.

Also, is there a "karma" system in skyrim, like there was in New Vegas when it comes to stealing and pick pocketing?

Something cool that happened, I killed a chicken in a village and someone shouted "What are you doing?! That's a valuable creature!"

I was taken to jail and paid a 50 gold fine, heh.

Nope, don't get caught and no punishment (although guards will comment stuff like "Keep your hands out of my pockets" when I walk by). Get caught, pay the bounty, return the items and be on your merry way).

Join the flippin' Thieves Guild. They lowered my bounty to like, 540 gold. Still a heck of a lot but better than paying over 1000 and going to JAIL.

Where/what are you guys using as your home base? Lately I've been using Winterhold but it really sucks there, plus I fell off the edge investigating a creature :( Once I get enough to buy a house in Whiterun or Riverwood (keep mixing those up as Whitewood and Riverrun, argh) that'll change.

Seems like stored item in chests and containers are persistent, as are dropped items on the ground, so far at least!

I had been running around for quite a while with a full inventory and couldn't find a safe house so I finally got enough to by Breezehome in Whiterun. 5000 gold.

I have a house set up in Whiterun. One chest, 1000s of pounds of equipment.

I joined the College of Winterhold and they gave me a free room to sleep in and store my stuff. Really wish I had bookshelves though. Currently saving up for a house.

So I got the collector's edition guide from Amazon for about $23. The thing is beautiful, massive (670 pages)and comes with an online map that makes finding things that much easier. Don't use it for quest info or anything like that (first playthrough). They sold out of them pretty quickly and couldn't fill all the preorders. Bad boy is going for $60-80 on eBay. Makes me wish i kept mine sealed and just sold it.

I didn't get caught either. I just have bounties go up to 1000 for killing during a quest, like where you need to fend off attacking armies or whatnot at a couple places. It shouldn't add bounty for that, I just assumed it was a bug. But yeah, I was forced into paying one off when I walked into a random town. Really kind of annoying.

Yea, it really shouldn't. If you aren't the aggressor and are just defending yourself, or you have agreed to a brawl (which is cool, btw), it shouldn't add to your bounty.

I was in the woods when I saw some imperial guards leading away a stormhaven (stormsomething or other) prisoner. I decided to kill the guards.

Did I done goof'd?
