So, if I'm understanding you correctly, a father who would dearly love to raise his own child is just out of luck if the mother feels like she can't be bothered?

Before sex, you discuss children. Because that's the next step if anything happens. If a man wants to raise a child and his wife doesn't want to be pregnant, you discuss adoption or find a new partner.
I've asked that too and from the religious angle it seems that sperm and eggs have no soul and so no lives are lost, per se.
When does a soul magically attach itself to something? Sperm/eggs have no soul? So a fetus does? When does it get one?
I believe that fetus is life and should not be killed. I don't see anything wrong with the morning after pill, it's just after the fetus develops to, say, when it has it's own bloodstream, then I believe it's wrong.
So a bloodstream is what gives you a soul?
