is an abortion any different from wearing a condom?
The end result is the same, no baby will be born, one less live to be lived in this world.

I'm going to do something rare and reveal a bit of myself.

My wife and I have three daughters. Two are doing well, but our first was stillborn. I won't go into details, but we made the decision to have her be born early (with no chance of survival) because of several factors, including a pretty much zero chance of making it to term, a horrible brief existence if she did make it to term, and the fact that the sooner they could do genetic testing on her after death, the better the chances of figuring out what went wrong...and hopefully the knowledge that we could try again.

It was the most difficult decision we have ever made, and one that we live with daily. Even though we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that we made the right decision, it hurts like hell to have made that decision. I hope to whomever-you-believe-in that we never have to make a decision anywhere as difficult as that again.

There are people in this world who would say we aborted the pregnancy, and that what we did was no different than murder. And to those people, I say fuck you.

Cases as Frink described are justified. I don't like abortion. It's a nasty subject for sure. I believe that fetus is life and should not be killed. I don't see anything wrong with the morning after pill, it's just after the fetus develops to, say, when it has it's own bloodstream, then I believe it's wrong.

In a perfect world, instead of abortion, a fetus would be separated from the mother and raised on machines until it can survive on its own (at which point it would be put up for adoption if the father doesn't want it either). Until we reach that point of technology though, I think abortion ought to be legal.

What would be so horrible about allowing a mother to terminate a pregnancy whenever a woman wants on the condition that the child's development be continued in an artificial womb? Naturally, in my ideal world this procedure would be perfectly safe.

So, if I'm understanding you correctly, a father who would dearly love to raise his own child is just out of luck if the mother feels like she can't be bothered?

When does a soul magically attach itself to something? Sperm/eggs have no soul? So a fetus does? When does it get one?

I just can't get over the fact that we, as a species, don't have complete choice and control of our reproductive functions simply for the sheer fact that it "feels good, man." Excepting obvious circumstances for health issues of the mother, abortions exist because somebody just had to fuck something.
