XII is awesome and I heartily recommend it to anyone who enjoys RPGs. FFs get a lot of flak for screwing with the system, but in XII's case it works.

My theory is that everyone will like X, XII, or XIII but never more than 1 of them. I guess not liking any of them is a valid option too.

Well, I like all three X, XII, and XIII. And I have a feeling I'm going to like XIII-2 as well.
And because I feel like it needs to be done:
Modern: VII > X > IX > XII >> XIII > Tactics > Vagrant Story > VIII >> X-2
Classic: I GBA/PSP > IV > VI > III DS > I NES >> V > IV DS >>>>>>> II GBA/PSP
And because I feel like it needs to be done:
