Old school heavy friends: please let the newcomers know how all this works...
The submission guidelines from last time still apply:
In case you weren't around for the first three:It HAS to be original.
Don't send covers of, or riffs from, game music or anyone else's tunes.
Be unaccompanied.
Ideally, I'd like to get "solo" recordings - not in the sense of "improvisational", but "from a single instrument or sound source."
However, if you do something live as a duo or something (I'm imagining a bit of bass/drums riffage by Weener and Tender Lad, for example), that's fine.
(You could also have your entire band play one note or chord all together, that might be kinda cool...)
It can be any sound, musical or otherwise.
Musicianship is not a factor at all. I've already made use of the sounds of Battlerager playing blastbeats on a computer keyboard.
Send as much or as little as you like.
Even a single vocal note or percussive hit is fine. Likewise, you can send hours of your own weird sounds and I'll make use of them.
You can e-mail me files at xoc@xocmusic.com, or send a link to your files - either is fine.
Don't send entire songs.
A complete riff is fine, or series of riffs, but the charm of the project is matching up disparate parts from disparate people and mutating them.
Don't sample.
I can't use clips of other songs, or samples from movies or TV. However, original field recordings are great - I was able to base an entire song on Spamtron's recording of a crosswalk signal, for example.
Don't worry about sound quality.
I can and will use whatever I'm given. Anything I get will be remixed and effected anyway - you might not even recognize it in the end!
Any audio file type will do, excepting MIDI or tracker files.
If you do want to make something in MIDI or a tracking program, render it down to an MP3, WAV, OGG, or something like that. And again - try to keep it to a single voice.
Identify yourself and your sound(s).
Be sure to include however you'd like to be credited, and specifically what the sounds are.
(example: M-H sent me files titled "detergent bottle.wav", "electric razor and hairclipper.wav", "my door creaking.wav", "Huge vagina.wav", etc.)
