I like my hybrid. I get a little less than 40mpg in cold weather, and 40-45 in warm weather. I usually pay about $100 a month or less in gas for regular "around town" usage.
I don't like oil/gas for several reasons, but it's mostly because of cost and politics (in that order), with environmentalism a distant third.
