whenever i think one of my tracks is shit, i just go and start new ones until i end up with one that i like.
i know this thread is PARROTY, but the point is you just gotta do a lot. make a lot. not everything is going to be a monsterpiece, but the more you produce, the more you raise both your abilities and your odds of making something that YOU are proud of.

Demons tray, I've heard some of your stuff, you don't suck. If you wanna get better, then practice and get better. Just like anything else in life.
There are a lot of talented/skilled musicians on this board, and several very gifted musicians as well. Comparing ourselves to these folks will only discourage us from doing anything. Personally, I've resigned myself to be one of the 90%.

I'm with cetera, man - that's why I've gone shoegaze/nugaze/dream pop/ambient/space mountain/nebula rock. That style makes it so I can suck and blow at the same time.
As far as metal goes, you can make bedroom slam death metal if you can palm mute, death grunt and have a drum machine with a good 808 - BREEEEEEE *BOOOOOOOOM*

I think the best advice is to just keep making music. Keep recording songs. Just continue doing it and you will improve.

Start using some of the advice you give, practice what you preach, like I said many times you're the one who taught me a lot of stuff and it got me sounding how I do today, whether you realized it or not.
