It looks like I'm going to be taking a job and moving to SF from NJ in a few months. I haven't exactly been present here since MAGfest but you've always been a helpful bunch. I'm wondering if there are any Shizzies out here or even if anyone can give me advice about the city.

I've never been there, it's been years since my dad was there so we're clueless. Where are the safe neighborhoods, what is rent like, where is all the cool stuff? Any little bit of information would be much appreciated.

Sunset is where I live. it's a nice area. just a touch expensive (700-1k average rent with roomates). Most of the city is pretty good. Bad area are: The Tenderlion (downtown), Bayview, Hunter's Point, and some places in the mission.
Rent is expensive everywhere. you will have to get a place with roommates, it's impossible otherwise.

I live with 2 other people, the breakdown goes:
me- $1250 a month, roommate 1- $1000, roomate 2- $800.
We have a nice place, and my room in particular is really awesome. But if you are used to having a whole house by yourself, kiss that goodbye.

As for cool stuff? thats everywhere. depends on what you like!

Excellent! Puts me at ease that I'll have at least some people I know out there. I know one person from school that's moving out as well but he's on the quieter side and have a feeling it'll take a lot to get him out.

I'm a bit concerned about rent. I've never lived on my own, always with roommates but I'm a bit concerned about moving to a big city like this and potentially moving in with people that could be scumbags. I think the plan is get a shitty studio for a year, maybe less, until I meet some people that I can trust enough to have around my things.

wizardcombat moved to Arizona earlier in the year. I am in Stockton, which is 90 minutes from SF though I never go there (maybe I will if someone gets a shizz meeting going). Odd how shizzies seem to congregate in pockets though. Arizona is the biggest, followed by Seattle and now Northern CA seems to be in third. Hey, if anyone's ever in the Stockton area... GET THE FUCK OUT WHILE YOU CAN AND TAKE ME WITH YOU.

I'm sad I missed the minibosses shows this last weekend. It's especially ironic since I was in Phoenix for the weekend.

What do you guys think about maybe having a big get together when DragonBurk comes out in a few weeks? I don't know his schedule exactly, but it would be a sweet "WELCOME TO THE WEST COAST!" get together.
We could easily do something like that at my apartment. It's big and suited for gatherings like that. Also, it's more of a central location compared to making everyone drive down to Santa Cruz, for example.

And then we can do another big get together when Monkey arrives. Unless after meeting #1 we all end up hating each other and possibly killing off a few people.

But that would never happen. =D
