so i gotta read that whole ocr thread to get the juicies?Meh, I've already voiced my opinion. OCR dudes you can spin it every which way you want. It still looks like nothing but a big fat pile of hypocrisy.

Ask for 15k for an album. that is expensive. but a "limited" run of 1000 (or 1500?) seems actually like it would be that much.
But won't give the album out unless a $50 donation is met.
$50 x 1000= $50,000...............?
How in the hell can a $50 cost be justified here? I read through the thread, even though I shouldn't have because it makes me insane. DJP says $25 was cutting it close, therefore $50? But why ask for 15k if $25 is cutting it close? How do we go from "just barely made it.." to double?
So many people try to play off that you're not "buying" the album. But, isn't that what this kick starter is for? getting an album? I recently learned through the Penny arcade questionable kickstarter.. that KS doesn't allow their site to be used for charities or businesses. OCR says here that hey don't worry guys, extra funds will be used for making OCR more awesome. Violating the terms, much?
The best part of all this.. The reason I was given grief on both Harmony AND Vampire Variations.. Profit. Look, anything above cost is profit. thats the very definition of profit. spin it all you like. even if you put it back into the site, thats profit.
Unless you put all this back into the album itself- in which case, make my statements null and void.
And on top of this, they wanted us to sell VV at a $2-4 cost to make hard copies, because anything above that was totally unethical? Amazing. That would have been hundreds of dollars LOSS.
There are so many things wrong with this it's not even funny. Sorry to those just making cool art (Hopefails) and cool music (zircon, etc), because this should have been a celebration. Instead, it's offensive.
From here on out, OCR can never ever chastise ANYONE from trying to make hard copies of their work. Game over guys. you jumped the shark.

1. use the money as your funds for studio time
2. after production is completed
use whatever is leftover to print hard copies
3. give those out for free on a 1st come basis
end of story
why is this hard?

The answer, I understand, is "No one in their right fucking mind".I just wanna find out who the FUCK the $1000+ supporters are and ESPECIALLY the $5000+ supporter.
Oh right, here's my take on the whole Kickstarter thing for this:
They don't need it and it is quickly borderlining on abuse of Kickstarter's whole concept. This has turned OCR from "We give out our best collaborative projects for free!" to "We give it out for free but if you want a physical copy, don't expect it for a reasonable cost because we didn't think about the possibility of NOT overpaying for it before making this page."
